On another note, holy crap, you got a working PSX emulator? I've been trying to get one for ages.

ePSXe is extraordinarily effective. I use it to play my (legit owned) PS1 games on the go. As well as other PSX games.

I can think of two places ahead where you may need the awesome processor butchering power of Dwarf Fortress again. Also, damn that safe. Damn it to hell.

Get Beta now! If you go onto the 2nd disc, the Zolom stops using it.

Eh. I found FF7 kind of a disappointment. Not that I thought it was a bade game, but it was getting hyped everywhere when it came out, and it really was not as good as the rabid Squaresoft fanatics were making it out to be. The graphics were generally mediocre, the music was bland and I found Cloud unlikable.

Add to that the following: I found myself unemployed shortly after it came out. I leveled Cloud, Cid and Vincent to 99, had the emerald weapon beat, etc, when my buggy PS1 version of X-Com decided to erase my FF7. I haven't had the heart to try playing through again.

Again, not bad but falls very short of the hype surrounding it. At least it wasn't FF8 *shudder*.

I tried a PSX emulator once. Then I found mapping the controls to a keyboard is a bastard, and I gave up.

I know you didn't mean 3 hours to get through the game, you meant 3 hours is the shortest amount of time that you will have before you will sit down to play FF7. There is no RPG in history that you willl finish in 3 hours. Period.

So, about 3 months you've had the file? The only Final Fantasy I took 3 months to beat was FF9. And I had to play that at my friends house, and I only see him on weekends... ah well, few can match my zeal in the area of Final Fantasy hehe.

Excellent, so you have seen Advent Children. This will help you understand much when you're playing through the game.

As well, you shouldn't feel that it's odd you respond to everyone, some people just post like that some times, or all the time, it's no big deal just more work on your part :P

@Keiseth: Just google "ePSXe" the emulator's free and the only part that's "questionably legal" is that you need a bios image.

Hey, what on earth is bad with FF8? Alright, the story could have been much better, but i find the gameplay mechanics itself awesome.

Well, the story was terrible, the gunsword thing was ridiculous, Squall was another prissy, morose unlikable character and the magic system was a joke. With the ability to use summon magic infinitely there was no reason to do anything else.

About the only thing I enjoyed was the card game. That was pretty awesome.  :)

the magic system was a joke.
a joke.
I beg your pardon!? I agree with every other thing there, but the Junction system was pure gold.

With the ability to use summon magic infinitely there was no reason to do anything else.
Equip the correct magic to attack and you can deal enough damage as summon magic does without the charge time. And that is excluding critical attacks or Squall's trigger. (I wonder why Squall gets this bonus over every other character, though.)

But yeah, there have been better FFs. Like 5 or 6.

As a rule, Final Fantasy characters come in three flavors.

The Lolicon fetish fuel

The Pretty Woman

And the flat chested teenaged girls referred to throughout the games as 'men'.

And almost everything else does the first two better. (You don't need the last one, not with Solid Snake around. ♥)

Don't forget the small kid who can beat the kingdoms best soldiers on a whim and pretends he/she doesn't know about it.

The real men who are woefully ineffective, despite, well, being manly and carrying a weapon they can actually use instead of this magic giant hunks of ore modern RPGs call 'swords'.

The strange quirky useless character that is completely different from the faceless others.

Seriously, I have hundreds of these. I have issues with the Final Fantasy series, and while they do some things well I find them undeserving of the hype they have.
