Bugs, or not the bugs?
« on: April 09, 2009, 11:57:33 am »

I was wondering, as of v0.28.181.40d which of these bugs have been fixed?

1:  Dwarves will only bring water to sick/injured dwarves, not booze
2:  Some injuries never heal (even if not severed) and will continually fall unconcious forever.
3:  Cave spider paralysis is intermittantly permanent.
4:  Cannot milk critters except purring maggots
5:  Cannot make extracts

None of these are bugs, AFAIK, just issues Toady hasn't gotten around to addressing yet.  #2 and (maybe) #3 will be dealt with in the next release.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur

In the next version:

1. The healthcare system is getting totally revamped, so this will probably be fixed or at least different.
2. This will be fixed by the new wound system
3. Venom is getting revamped too, so this should be different
4. Not fixed
5. Possibly fixed due to massive creature updates

While on the subject, I've been wondering is dwarfs still ignore Z-levels in item distance checks? (e.g. a rock 200 levels down is closer than the one 3 tiles to the left)

Yes, and I don't think there's been any word on Toady about it getting fixed.  That said, he'll probably be going on a massive bug hunt in the wake of the next release.

Do dwarves TOTALLY ignore the z-axis when doing distance calculations? I really doubt it, but I can see them giving it the same weight as the x- and y- axes.

The masons who travel down 10 levels to pick rocks out of my exploratory shafts would suggest that they totally ignore z-levels.

That doesn't suggest anything unless there was another rock sitting right next to him.

Obviously, actual path distance isn't calculated, but I'm proposing that the ABSOLUTE distance in three dimensions might be used. For instance, ten z-levels down is the same distance as ten steps to the right or left.

If #3 bothers you, just take [EXTRACT_PERMANENT] out of their raw files.
