Fort Comment Thread.
« on: April 09, 2009, 01:17:39 am »

Well I finally uploaded my current fort and added the POI's to the DFMA and I was looking for some comments on it. Also I will give my comments on other's forts if it is asked.
Yes I use a tile set, I don't care if you flame me and I am also running Civ Forge.

I like what you did with the brook in the north of the fortress. I would have just built a wall. The concept of a moat is foreign to me.

Why that is a fine fort, for my forts are mostly test labs, for things, and quizzical inquiries that I had quoth.

So, add more catapults, and place some bridge fall traps and then place cage traps at the bottom of them.

GateWheel!

Comment!

Its a simple but effective layout, I see you used the dwarf heaven, I didn't inspect it through and through but defense seems like it will be easy if done right. Like what you did with the magma forges as well.

I need an idea for the bottomless pit.

EDIT:

My Immigrant cook turned hunter got attacked by a GCS.

He lost his left arm, his right arm and his right foot. Everything else was yellow or red.

My marksdwarve squad got there, shot the GCS and then battered it to death with their xbows.

My cook didn't survive.

So is this gonna be the 'look at my beautiful fort' thread? :P

And I've been eyeing that location since it was posted, though my current project is taking all my time, next fort will have to be there. It just looks like so much fun... so many things to do... so many possibilities...

Yeah, I guess that fort is alright. If you're into that sort of thing.

well looking at your fort, I'm a little concerned about your defenses. You seem to have a lot of siege weapons that will probably never have a target to shoot at (seeing as enemies will have little reason to go in front of them). I guess if you just plan on sealing yourself in during sieges you can do that, but that never seems like much fun! Your workshop setup is nice, but your bedrooms stretch forever. I feel sorry for the poor dwarf that has a bedroom in the corner, he'll have to walk for ages to get to bed. It's not a terrible start though, I would suggest maybe in the future expanding your workshops a bit, or else you'll have a lot of dwarfs with nothing to do all day (unless you're gonna play a small fort, then you might have a good tight setup)
