But, just last night I captured the army base. Now I think I know what you guys meant when you mentioned the Cyrus mission. Wow, that was a crazy fight! It took me two tries to do it.
The first time, immediately upon seeing the map where I got to choose my
one entry zone, I realized if these guys were hostile things would be bad... and they were. I was smart enough to sprint my three UZI wielding mercs to the sides, to use the buildings as cover, but I stupidly dropped my two rifle mercs prone right at the start point to begin sniping fire. Needless to say my rifle mercs took a beating. Then when I sent a guy out to pop some morphine into one, he got shot up too... right around that time my character died and it was game over...
The second try went a lot better. I sprinted
all my mercs to the sides, behind the buildings. One did get stuck out in the open while shooting a baddie that was in the way, but he managed to not get shot. I was able to take the right flank easily enough, but got bogged down against two guys on the left. At some point one of the enemies got a good shot off on a merc, killing him instantly
Once I had the flanks secured, I split my four remaining mercs- two (one on each flank) covered the central area while the other two (one on each flank) moved up the sides of the base, to come in behind the enemies. I finally remembered to use grenades this battle, loosing three of them over the buildings into the yard. I got a sweet screenie of one exploding just two or so feet from a guy. Once I got a merc in each of the four corners of the base, it was game over for the enemy. The battle was a heck of a lot of fun!
I am also continuing despite losing a merc (something hard for me, but I am trying to change my playstyle).
Based on the mission note, it seems I am claiming this base as my own (game crashed right after battle, which is good, because it was 2am and I
really needed to stop)... I hope thats the case. I look forward to being able to store gear so I can carry a lean loadout on missions rather than bulging backpacks.
