Build cage, connect to lever, station a militiary dwarf on the cage, pull lever, execution. You can't dump them in pits, they will escape without fail.

Suspend cage over bottomless pit, rig cage to fall.  Scream THIS IS SPARTAAAA!!!  Pull the lever.

Make an animal pit, put all your animals in it, put the cage in it, set it up to a lever and release the goblin.

Watch as hilarity unfolds.

after careful review i shall suspend the cage over a one level pit with animals in the pit pull the lever screaming this is Sparta then watch my puppies tear/get teared to shreds

as i was typing this a group of kobolds decided to ambush so i might get more enemies into the pit of furries

Good luck! Even wooden cages should be able to trap it.
Just remember to keep a door to the pit so you can retrieve the animal and goblin pieces once it's done rampaging. Don't worry it can't open doors.

Nope.

Say if you don't want to butcher the animals anyway you can just leave him in the pit and drop stuff into it when you feel like it. No need to set up a new trap outside the door.

maybe you need to do it the other way around .. sneak as closely as possible to the cyclops and put cagetraps there. you have to use pretty darn fast dwarves for this to be a success, otherwise he'll hunt them down and crush them.. or place a cagetrap PRETTY CLOSE but not close enough to trigger him.. and then tell them to install a bed or something next to him. dwarf walks over, shits his pants, runs through the cagetrap .. cyclops follows and is caught.

Try to lure a dwarf in there with a job, like a building job, wait till he runs out the front door(front opening? silly caves.) with the cyclops following him and rejoice!
This may take a few dwarves though.
