Acid?
« on: April 06, 2009, 06:37:24 am »

Yeah, I know putting in a new liquid would be bitchy, but seeing as how liquids can change stuff (magma first makes rocks into molten rocks), we could have a new, usable liquid.

Acid could strip living tissue to the bones. This could be used to dissolve corpses.

Dwarves disgusted by miasma? Throw the corpses into Acid!

Maybe it would be possible to make corpse rotting time longer, like a season or two.
Then there would be a nice practical use for it.

Defense could need it too. Acid could be easier to get than magma, and excellent against amphibious attackers.

BFD, I once put forward a suggestion for something already planned. Run, and don't look back

(I now search the dev blog thoroughly. Good stuff)

id say they would use an animal to create the acid, it would mean thet a lot of engineering and breeding would be required to have useable amounts of said acid, unless it comes exremely concentrated, and can be diluted in water, and still be useful.

yes/no?

Or since it was in the Alchemy bloat may maybe the dwarfs can make acid out of some kind of rock.

Out of rock. Right. What kind of rock would it be? An acid rock?

No alchemy!!
Also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid_mine_drainage   one specific place caught my eye: "may also contribute acid rock drainage to the environment."

And if that dosen't work http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitriol

Well yeah, but this will most likely take place as a thing stored in a container, like an extract, not like a true liquid like magma or water. And yes, I did search for any past topics and devs about this. Nothing turned up. Except some stuff about creatures having spitting acid as a weapon but thats not the same thing.

Forget drowning enemies in acid. Try drowning them in Botox.

And you can't eat them, either, sadly. Even though it'd make sieges so much more fun; dwarves lining the walls, drooling and carrying sharp knives and forks, ready for the upcoming meals.

How about making acidity an aspect of the liquid in RAWs, I would make a liquid with:
[NAME:superacid]
[HOMOTHERM:-1000]
[ACIDITY:100]
[REACTION:REAGENTS:MATGLOSS_FLESH:1:PRODUCT:superacid:1]

It will freeze enemies then turn their flesh into more super acid!

Except that he also wants all liquids to act the same, regardless of their contained state. By the time he gets to nmaking acid exist at all, he will hopefully have already made it so that booze, milk, and acid flow like water and magma, if there's enough of it.
