http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=949This is a small mod I've been working on that introduces DnD stuff to DF, plus a few other things I wanted to add like reactions and such. Following is a list of the new races, creatures, and such.
New Entities:
Gnomes: The Brilliant Race : A brilliant and innovative race, the gnomes are the most technologically advanced of the many races that exist within this realm. They have the most advanced weapons, such as the Gnomish Hammer, and the best traps, such as the Gnomish Flamer. However, a disdain for the crude traps set by Dwarves leaves them with less options in this regard. Playable civ.
Drow: The Brooding Race : A cold and aloof racial offshoot of the elven race, the drow have a xenophobic hatred of all other beings, even their other fellows who do not belong to their individual tribe. Unlike most others through, the Drow refuse to invade the halls of their enemies, and it is said that they simply bide their time, awaiting some event...
Yuan-Ti: The Cruel Race : Hybrids of snakes and humanoids, the Yuan-Ti have been cursed by magic to suffer eternally under the curse that has made them these freakish monstrosities. Thus, they remain isolated from other races, languishing in a self-imposed anarchy, in which law has collapsed and chaos reigns. But for any race to cross their paths, the Yuan-Ti show no mercy.
Halflings: The Nomadic Race : Standing shorter than even the dwarves, the halflings have long wandered the world in search of a home. They as such, dwell in cities similar to those of the elves, ready to pack up and move on at a moments notice. Their wandering habits make them particularly vulnerable during the winter months, and more often than not, they will wander off to the nearest fixed settlement to "trade". Their nomadic lifestyle perfectly lends itself to adventuring, and halflings are notorious for taking up the lifestyle, wither for money, fame, or just sheer enjoyment.
Orcs: The Brutal Race : The most warlike and chaotic of the races that inhabit this realm, the Orcs are an uncouth and antisocial juggernaut of destruction. More often than not, they will attack for absolutely no provocation, other than the fact that an area simply exists on the maps. They attack with no mercy, no hesitation, and will never give up until they have wiped their enemies off the face of the world.
Duregar: The Savage Race : An evil racial offshoot of the Dwarves, the Duregar are a crude peoples, with shoddy workmanship skills compared to that of their kin. They compensate for this however, with a primal fighting ability that not even their kin can match. Often at the forefront of many wars to expand their domains, the Duregar stand as one of the most hated races by the civilized peoples of this realm.
The Metallic Dragons: The Race of Justice : Though technically not a civilization, the Metallic Dragons, enforcers of good and peace throughout the land, are held in high regard by the law-abiding races of the world. They have no one unified center of power, but often, individuals from this race can be found embarking on quests of importance throughout the land. Adventurers only.
New Creatures:
Medusas: Sadistic and cruel, the medusas can petrify enemies with the cold that their gaze emits. Semimegabeasts.
Phantom Fungi: Invisible predatory plants, these beings are notorious for ambushing any hapless creatures that get in their path. They are also one of two known creatures that can naturally grow the rare and valuable white fungus on their person.
Shambling Mounds: Nothing more than glorified plant life, the shambling mounds exist to eat only. They are not particularly aggressive non-food sources, which means most lifeforms, but they will attack in self-defense. They also can grow white fungus.
Devourers: Undead lifeforms that have been mutated by the presence of eldrith energy into gaining intelligence, Devourers are malicious and like to torture and mutilate those that fall into their presence. Semimegabeasts.
Bulette: Land burrowers that have the metabolic ability of Dragons, the Bulettes live to feed, and will attack anything they see, regardless of how impossible the fight would be.
Gnoll: Cowardly to an extreme, the Gnolls tend to harass settlements within their territory for food and supplies, but often flee the moment the odds turn against them.
Gray Renders: Powerful and strong, the brutish Gray Render is a killing machine, that will lash out at anything it perceives as even a remote threat. Unusually, it easily forms bonds with even humanoids, and can be properly trained into a fearsome defender.
Hags: Ugly females who dwell in wetlands, Hags are notorious for trying to steal anything they can carry from humanoids, and they will flee if confronted.
Manticores: Malevolent and intelligent beasts, the manticores live in caves and often raid the surrounding area for food, drawing the ire of those who's lives they ruin. They are quite intelligent however, and they tend to fight with strategy in mind.
Fire Mephits: Fiery creatures who dwell near heat sources, these mephits are mischievous and often unaware of how dangerous the fire they create is to humanoids. They are also highly curious and will take items and food for themselves.
Owlbears: Extremely aggressive, owlbears are a savage and uncivilized race that kill any who come even close to their primitive camps.
Otyughs: Filthy and disease-ridden quadrupeds who often dwell in chasms, Otyugh eat largely refuse, and try to avoid any potential threats, rather than meet them head on.
Umber Hulks: Strange insect-like creatures, the Umber Hulks who dwell in chasms are a naturally evil and horrible race, who actively seek humanoids as sustenance.
Ice Mephit:Same as fire mephits, but icy.
Blink Dog: Magically altered variants of the regular dogs, blink dogs have the unique ability to fly using their magical ability. Other than this, they behave just as regular dogs, but with more of a good nature.
Winged Horses: With the ability to fly, the winged horses serve as mounts throughout the realm, as due to their savage nature, they care not for the lines between good and evil, and can be trained by both equally.
You'll learn about HFS and Megabeats on your own...
New Plants:
White Fungi:An immensely rare fungus only found growing on certain plant-like creatures such as phantom fungi, white fungus makes a delicious wine and makes the most valuable drink currently known. White fungi does not create harvest able spores, so it is impossible to grow.
Brown Fungi:A rapidly growing and virtually worthless plant, this fungus cultivated by Gnomes as a cheap and efficient food source, despite its lack of flavor or beauty.
Yellow Fungi:A stronger and slower growing variety of the various fungi, this fungi is not naturally edible, but it can be brewed into a cheap beer or milled into a cheap paste that can be used for cooking food.
Green Fungi:A strange fungus variety with a texture not unlike that of silk, a method for converting this into a cheap but useful thread has been developed by the Gnomes, and it is now commonly found in the clothing of those who dwell underground.
Heart Berry:A small, heart shaped little berry that only grows in areas that are good aligned, this berry can be made into a very valuable and sweet tasting wine.
Gnolls Eye:An extremely fast growing plant, this darkish weed is neither edible nor worth anything, and while it can be extracted into a gray paste, this paste is all but worthless as well.
Dragonsbreath:Named for its fiery red color and spicy taste, this wine is on par with the valuable sun berry in terms of drink, and while it only grows in the sheer heat of summer, the Dragonsbreath can grow anywhere, and makes for a fine, spicy ale.
Arcane Weave:A plant only found in nicely aligned areas, this weave, while only growing in Autumn, is used to make a very rare and luscious type of cloth, which is considered top-quality by those who wear it, making it the most valuable of all currently known plant fiber weaves.
New Stones:
Eldrium:An important metamorphic layer, eldrium has been supercharged with ancient eldrith, or magical energy, that makes it useful in the processing of certain, particularly powerful metals like Tungsten and Aluninum.
Eldrith Wood:Petrified wood, charged with eldrith energy, this wood can be purified and turned into Darkwood, a light wood that can be used to make weapons on par with iron.
Wolframite and Scheelite:The two principal ores of the metal Tungsten, found primarily in layers of Granite, these can be converted with a Gnomish process involving Eldrium into Tungsten.
Bauxite, Rutile, and Ilminite: While not new, these have been changed to accommodate an aluminum smelting process, powered by the properties of Eldrium.
New Gems:
Cubic Zirconia:An artificial form of natural zircon, in this game, this rare and expensive diamond look-alike can only be found within other diamonds.
Geminite:A cheap and rapidly-growing crystal found in almost any stone, Geminite is not particularly valuable, but is very commonly available, and is used in most every day jewelry.
New Metals:
Cold Iron:Made by chilling iron through a process involving the smelter, cold iron is one of the components of the rare and powerful Mithral, Cold Iron, while strong enough to be used in weapons, has less power than that of the iron used to forge it, and as such is not desirable as a weapon.
Cold Silver:Made with Cold Iron and natural silver, Cold Silver has such a strong natural resistance to heat, that it can take direct submergence in lava, even better than bauxite. However, it is brittle, and is not much use in weapons and armor.
Mithral:Combining the best properties of cold silver and cold iron, this magma-proof metal uses both types of chilled metal to create a glistening and strong metal, that is stronger than steel and magma-proof, and yet is delicate enough to be used in mechanisms and other components.
Darkwood:A dark and solid wood that is purified from eldrith wood in smelters, Darkwood can be used to make light, yet strong, weapons and armor.
Eldrith Binding:Created from eldrium stone, eldrith binding is used as the catalyst for reactions that are beyond ordinary means for the races of this realm, such as the reactions used in forging Tungsten and Aluminum.
Tungsten:A strong and sharp metal, Tungsten is currently the strongest metal that is not Adamantium known to the races of this world. First created by the ever brilliant Gnomes, Tungsten is so strong, it can deal damage equal to 150% of that of Iron, almost half that dealt by Admantium.
Unrefined Aluminum:Formed by smelting eldrium with any of the three aluminum ores, bauxite, rutile, and iliminte, this aluminum can further be processed into aluminum.
New Weapons:
Dwarven Urgosh:Used strictly by the Dwarves, this balanced axe, while small, can pack a brutal punch.
Scythe:Used primarily by the more evil races of the world, the scythe, while it deals little damage, when wielded expertly, is guaranteed to strike in an organ, causing massive damage.
Gnomish Hammer:Used by the gnomes to dig out fortresses, this hammer also can serve as a mace in a pinch.
Orcish Double-Axe:An extremely ungainly and over sized weapon that only Orcs ever bother using, this weapon is truly massive and can deal out brutal damage to enemies.
Sickle:Like a scythe, but can be used by smaller races and is more often used by the side of good than evil.
Trident:A strange weapon only weld by the Yuan-Ti.
New Traps:
Gnomish Flamer:Used strictly by Gnomes, the Gnomish flamer spits out fire upon its enemies, dealing significant damage in the way of burns and pain.
Gnomish Freezer:Same as the flamer, only cold damage.
Archimedian Screw:Developed by Urist Archimedes, this screw is essentially an unnecessarily complex corkscrew used by the Gnomes.
This mod is still in development and suggestions and feedback are more than welcome.
Hope you people like it!
NOTE:I forgot to mention that the default starting race in this mod are the gnomes, as they naturally have the most radical features. However, you can change that if you want in entity files.
