Damn. Cue awkward questioning session. Should I go for the blow off? The honest? The lie? The honest with a hint of sarcasm double bluff? I still don't have any information on the societaly norms. Damnit. The bar seemed normal enough, but this looks a lot like Lankhmar . . . Damn.


"Errrr . . ."

"I'm a fighter, I suppose."

That was annoyingly hesitent. I wonder what she thinks about that. And I hope that no one around here decides to mess with me. I'd rather not show my abilities yet . . .

[Frelock]

"Hey, Frelock, are you up?"

Frelock stood up from the old rickety bar stool that served as his chair for dining purposes, and went to answer the door.  "Luke?  You're up awful early.  What are you up to?"

[Little]

"Oh! You're a fighter, too? Isn't that a coincidence! I just back from a job in Paris, actually. Terrible civil war going on there, you know. Food prices nailed their economy, a lot of good people out of jobs, rising discontent. Real shame, but it's great fun!"

[Strife26]

Blood knight eh? I'd best exflitrate as soon as possible. Interesting world, this one. How long will it take this line to move?!

"And how did this French civil war pan out?"

[Little]

"Still going on, silly! I only got back three days ago!"

Little chuckles, her laughter like the beautiful tinkling of wind chimes.

[Strife26]

Is it worth it to mine for information? Gah. I hate detective worlds that don't start off with bullets flying. Of course, I say the other thing there. What a hypocritical thing I am.

Crap! DO NOT HUM 'Under the sea' during polite conversation. Bad Strife!

"How do you think that events in France will effect the rest of the world?"

[Little]

"No damn clue. Do I look like a politician? Everybody's pretty rattled what with the recession still going on and all, but most countries just have protests and meetings and shit. Well, France just has had it brewing it for a while, I guess, what with their class riots and shit. France was fun, and I got to brush up on my French, but I want something where I can speak English. Vous comprehende, moi nouveau ami?"

[Strife26]

Bloody hell, foriegn languages. Let's see if I recall that one. I think I learned something similar a while ago . . .

"Mon canard est en feu?"

[Little]

Little bursts out laughing.

"Strife...That's a good one! Do you know what you just said. No, your duck is not on fire! Oh dear, such terrible french."

[Strife26]

French is apparently not the same as whatever language Strife had once learned. Damn. Pass it off as a Joke?

"Languages aren't my forte. I tend to butcher them."

Would the gibbon transaction get over soon?! How do I know that the monkey was a gibbon anyway? What the hell is a gibbon?

The buyer bulled out his wallet and started to count out bills.

Thank God!

[Little]

Little eyes the monkey head, "So, Strife, once your odd little purchase has been dealt with, what do we next?"

[Strife26]

"I was planning to find a bookstore or library, actually."

What sort of sick bastard pays for a dead monkey with nickels?!

[Little]

"Meh. Why bother doing that when you can have fun?"

Little winks at Strife.

[Strife26]

"Information is power."

Took him long enough. How much did Adam say that one of these coins was worth? I don't remember, I'd best bluff here. Enough to buy a few drinks and a sandwhich at least.

"Pardon me."

Strife goes up to the counter and looks the owner in the eye.

"I have some gold coins, and I'd like to turn them into currency."

Little strolls up with him, looking at the bizarre array of objects behind the counter.
