No mods, running latest Mayday (I know I'm weak for choosing tilesets, but that's another topic)
I DID mod in some easy adamantite smelting so I could design an incredibly elaborate (and nice looking) pump system. Didn't use it to make any armor or weapons so not easy mode.
Are there non-magma, non-mega monsters that can light things on fire? A goblin arsonist?

Update:
Champion Swordwarf with Artifact Bonesword is dead (Do bones burn?) Everyone now is going crazy and my Hammerdwarf is smiling a little too much.

For some reason one of my cages outdoors ignites anything that comes near it. How did I solve this?
Flooding the world of course.

Hm...  I seriously doubt it, but... Lightning strike during a rain storm?

Dwarf Fortress: The only game where forest fires, spontaneous combustion, and booze explosions double the fun.

What materials is this cage trap made of (both mechanism and trap)?

For some reason one of my cages outdoors ignites anything that comes near it.

Funny, I had an unexplained fire out near my map perimeter and I couldn't figure out what set it off. There was a sprung cage trap, with nothing in the cage, and a pile of goblin leather next to it on fire. I even saw an engraving later on about a goblin withering away to death in a cage. Probably was the same goblin, since I save all my caged goblins for display purposes (and to keep my Nobles in line...I have a feeling they know what that room is for). Perhaps if you leave caged goblins out in the sun too long during the summer they splode?

Also, it was a metal (gold) cage so it didn't catch.

Your Cage appears to be made out of Magma.

With a name like Icarus is it any wonder that everything is bursting into flames?

Did a goblin sieger catch on fire, and then get caught by your trap?  Can creatures catch on fire (and survive) in world gen?
Is he alive, endlessly burning and unable to die, in his stasis cage?

The dwarven economy is just a stand-in, from what I understand. As it is, it represents an actual economic system about as well as poison ivy represents a salad.

You've either got a very abnormal material, goblins with crazy body temperature, or several tiles are bugged to be abnormally hot.

My money is on goblins being crazy hot.

This is a little old, but by chance, do you recall whether you dumped cages with goblins in them into magma? This is a known bug where the goblins in the cage will be teleported to where they were captured when the cage is destroyed. On fire, of course.
