Well, as far as I've been able to tell, (6 years of high school and 3/4 of a year in university now), the best of a given class tend not to be the ones that study all the time. They're usualy just gifted with a nice bit of insight and a good memory. It's quite possible to get a lot of A's and still be lazy, as many here can no doubt prove.

I'm absurdly lazy.

And I play far too much DF.
I wasn't lazy when the tests didn't matter when I was doing KS1-3.
I found that cruising through GCSE was the best option and did well, the A-levels come crashing down on me like an unsupported glass pyramid full of molten soap.

just associate making friends with good stuff, associate doing your homework with good stuff.  Associate ignoring your homework when you could do it more easily now than later with being bad.

That's sorta what happens with me. I somehow just remember things in the test I didn't actually bother to study, and some stuff others find hard are just too easy to me. But the annoying thing is, that only works in some subjects. For the others, I fail, and fail HARD, if I don't study. Even if I do study in those, I still only get mediocre grades.

I spend plenty of time socialising, that's not the problem.
managing time seems incredibly fucking anal to me, the kind of thing my mother does, and god only knows how much I don't want to be like her.
I actually put some work in, but fairly erratically.
I love History, especially the debates.
Organic chemistry I like, I do quite well in it, and I'm damn good at the practical side. Physical chemistry not so good, still better at the practical side anyway.
Physics is a bit worse again, one of the teachers is far too much like me if I was to be a teacher(I'd hate it and be a twat.), but hey, there are still practicals!
Fuck maths, I wish I'd never taken it. Bloody boring subject, almost nothing can be applied, teachers have the personalities of cinder blocks.

I disagree on what you said about math. Most of the stuff can be applied, but the teachers don't teach that to you. Mainly under orders because that is too time consuming. Which is the wrong way to teach about something.

After all, somebody invented that math for some use.
