I remember reading about it in games mags, but my parents' budget didn't stretch to buying many MD (Genesis, whatever) games new. Also, I don't think it had much of a release, here.

I blame John Major.

I'm in Canadian high school right now... grade 12 (graduation year, for those of you who use a different system)

Long story short: High school has 4 years.
-Year 1: All grade 9's are either decent people, or REALLY BIG IDIOTS. Thankfully this only lasts one year.
-Year 2: Grade 10's aren't much better. But at least they're better at all. Also, no freshying (I never got freshied, just by pretending to blend in)
-Year 3: Grade 11's don't exist to anyone but themselves.
-Year 4: Grade 12's are sorted into people with futures, and people without. Those without futures have a perhaps 1/3,000,000 chance at becoming a sports star and being rich, but for the most part they'll just fail at life... for the rest of their life. Obviously you want to be one of the people with a future.

Then you get to do something boring for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!  ;D Isn't that GRAND?!? So FFS pick something you want to do for fifty years, go to university and learn it, and from there you just wing it I guess.

(I suppose that ending could have been a bit more inspirational)

you have to acknowledge people for who they are.
then make friendly (peace?) with everybody.<-(hard part)
if they smile or nod, then it doesn't matter how much of a punk-ass bitch they are.

And honestly, home school is a bit of a cop-out. No-one's going to accept the excuse that "things were to hard for poor fluffums, so he ran home to mummy". All that's doing is avoiding the social problems, not fixing them, nor facing them.

Hah.  I'm sorry for going off topic, but I just can't leave that one alone.  Clearly, you've never met the type of parents who homeschool.  I would argue that homeschooling actually better prepares students socially, as they're not forced to socialize with ONLY people of the same (im)maturity level as themselves.  Homeschoolers are constantly exposed to people (and not just family) of wildly different age groups, and overall have a much higher maturity level than their public schooled peers.  Homeschoolers also tend to simply learn better, as they move at their own pace, and are neither pushed too fast or held back by the rest of the class.  Tell me you've never felt either excruciatingly bored or rushed in a public school.

As a comparison, just watch (or participate in) a highschool field trip, then compare that with a group of homeschool kids doing the same thing.  Again, if you'd ever met a homeschooler, you'd see the difference.

Sorry, as a homeschooler myself, I just couldn't let that go without saying anything.
(this isn't to say that there aren't exceptions in both cases, some people are just idiots wherever they are.)

Mondark, you're arrogant, condescending, and annoying. I don't blame you, though.

You were home schooled, after all.

Speaking as someone who used to live next door to a home-schooled family that made the Flanders' look like swinging rocket scientists, I'll just comment that when I'm grading myself, I usually say I'm awesome too.

I'm 16 and a sophomore, and I can generally say that I enjoy my high school, and that I get a decent education.  Please tell me I'm not the only one.

In my district, high school started at 10th grade (junior high covered 7-9), and my sophomore year was one of the most fun times of my life.  Met lots of cool new people (all my remaining friends now), hung out with old ones, and had cool teachers and classes.  Very formative period.

Ironically, I also completely bombed both English and Spanish classes, gave up on the state's Advanced Placement program, and was kicked out of the school band.  Establishing a pattern I would follow through to this very day.

Ah, memories.

It's the period of your life that prepares you for your adult years, where no, things are not fair, you are expected to turn up, act and dress a particular way, and do boring things every day for the rest of your life.

That's a pretty bleak outlook on adult life. A lot of people are willing to settle for that, but it certainly isn't the only way to live.

It's not the only way to live life, sure. And nobody says you have to settle for boredom, and good luck to those people who try. Some people really do end up living the dream, and more power to them.

I'm just saying the laws of averages are against him. And even those that end up living their dreams had to go through a lot of boring crap before they got there, too.

to the OP, just try to do what i did, AVOID people, trying to talk to/insult them usually dosent work -.-.

fortunately (in england, dontknow about whereveryouare) ignoring people works, unless the person is a hyper-asshole.

try that. works for me.

I can't. The hallways are like 5 feet across and it gets really crowded. Especially with all the people stopping to talk to their friends. :(
My friends and I just try to scare people.
