I was thinking about how it looked a little odd that a creature icon (or anything for that matter) has black surrounding it, in it's tile. Could they be changed so that there is nothing around them and you can see what they're standing on?

Bit hard to see if the period representing the ground is covered by the dwarf icon, custom tilesets notwithstanding.
Even worse if two creatures are in the same space, in case you were implying that too
