Sure, I'll get to that later today. Not much happens after all that initial excitement though.

The First Siege of Greatbridge: The Great Boredom

“I don't see why we don't just charge them” Rysith said to Baltiel. The two of them were sitting in the former dining room, technically now the barracks. “A good show of dwarven steel and these orcs'll be running for the hills faster than you can say... uh, something.”

“I think we would need to have some fine dwarven steel to do that, though.” Baltiel said. “Wouldn't we?”

“Oh, yeah, that.” Rysith rolled his eyes. Solon had refused to issue their axes to them, saying that she preferred that they hold off on chopping bits off of each other until they at least had some good suits of armor. Not that they could get a hold of any of those, not without an anvil. What a fortress this was... "The hell with this. Let's go get drunk."

And here we see the orcs in a more playful moment, as they happily frolic in the ocean waves.

I had originally envisioned the tower to be connected to the fort, but whatever.

I prophesy that they shall drown except one, who will escape and be killed by a beached whale.

Orcs like to frolic in the sea? That gives me an idea that may turn out with a lot of obsidian...

“You're telling me the orcs just left?” Solon was questioning the two dwarfs, Erush Diebridges and Remalle, who had just reported the non-sighting.

“Yeah, me and Remalle were just up there, and there's a lot of footprints so there were probably just here. But they left. It's like, suddenly, there were no orcs. No monsters, no thing called Treasurewicked to be followed. There was nothing in the tunnel but us puzzled dwarfs of courage, left alone with the shadows and the darkness...”
“What? Stop talking like that! Get out of here, you two. Go get drunk or something.”

Turning her back on the two dwarfs, Solon began to pace up and down the (rather short) length of her office. On the one hand, good news. With the orcs gone they were safe to continue work on the Bridge. On the other hand, the orcs certainly knew where they were now, and would undoubtedly come back in force. So, bad news. Good news, with the siege over, the caravan would have no problem reaching them. Bad news? See the previous sentence, she thought.

(End of siege report: Two dead, Cazador and Udil Rainbanner, fisherdwarf. No orcs killed, though Caz did manage to break a wrestlers arm. Go team!

Also, while the gods of The Trade of Earth might be wimps, their symbol is decidedly less so:

I would like to rejoin with the next male ranger immigrant.

Diego, Cazador's brother. More cautious that his older brother, but smarter. (lets hope)

What's this? Planning? Foresight? Intelligence? I think you've got the wrong fort.

It's winter, the fort is currently in its second siege, death and miasma abound, and Lord Legon is a worthless coward. Details later.

Bah! I probably don't have an axe this time either. Time to train harder, so that Solon will actually let me have one.
