The premise for this is brilliant. I can't wait to be swarmed by orcs.

Also, pokpokpokpok is a fantastic character idea.

I think a watch tower is in order, so I can take on the orcs from above while everyone else is safely below.

Some sort of contraption that lets us catapult PoWs at invading armies would be good, too.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Or give me tranq. bolts to use on elves, and use the elves as cannon fodder.

I intend on attaching noisemakers to any machine that runs properly but does not go pok. Including computers, pencil sharpners, and refridgerators.

I, like Inaluct, approve of this premise. Count me in at your convenience.

Name: Rysith
Profession: I'll be standing with axe or sword beside Remalle and Cain
Gender: Male if possible, otherwise change the name to "Jora"

Personality: Overconfident? Perhaps. Overambitious? Probably. Set upon a dangerous and potentially foolhardy course in life by fate and parentage? If you believe the stories he tells. Determined to become the most skillful weaponmaster in Greatbridge? Absolutely.

Quiet, but always angry, Dunar is one draft away from snapping. Never try to take his Plump Helmets. Never.

Woo! More cannon fodder.

Hmmm... yes.

It's currently summer, and the fortress is still in the early stage, or as I like to call it, the boring stage. I'll try to get a few updates in, though. Thrill as Cazador hunts the last of the horses! Chill as some groundhogs appear to take their place! Shiver with excitement as I remember that skin rots if it isn't tanned, dang it.

Ok, well I haven't been in a community fort before, so...

I'd like to take the first Soap Maker immigrant that shows up (one is bound to sooner or later, surely?)

He/she is also secretly a spy for the king, reporting back on how zealously the dwarves are working on his mad projects.

He/she thinks it would be a great idea to build a royal bath house in case the king should decide to visit, complete with shower, pool, and most importantly, soap.

I like that idea, Moron. Do you have a name you would like to use, or is, well, Moron fine?

Onwards to the boring update!

From the Journals of Solon Wardbridges, Slate the first, 202.

Things are continuing to coast along at a disturbingly slow and peaceful pace. Basic amenities of life are being dug. Dining room; bad? Check. Bedrooms; even worse? Check. Massive idiotic bridge of doom? Oh gods why did you even ask. Still, Inaluct reports that she “senses” iron in the ground beneath us, so that means we should be able to begin construction soon. Unless the king actually does want it built of aluminum. We'll see!

In other news, it's raining, the gods still hate us, and the orcs are still out there somewhere, existing. Also, Cazador wants some sort of tower built on the hill above us, so he can kill things even more efficiently. Not sure how I feel about a dwarf who prefers the outdoors to a nice warm cave, but otherwise a good idea.

Pokpokpokpok is demanding a mechanics shop in the only way that she can. Am beginning to regret chosen career path.

Scribbled below, with the heading “possible escape plan”

I'd like to request a dwarf.
Name: Jurgen
Profession: Mechanic or mason. Any migrant will do if you train them up and use the magic of imagination.
Background:
Jurgen is a deeply eccentric and very old archeologist who has ended up here due to skills he has picked up in several centuries of traveling. A deeply conservative and dusty dwarf, he has spent his life going to foreign lands with a group of burly dwarves and taking priceless archaeological artifacts, occasionally by force.
He dedicated fifty years to finding the site of Olonkulet, only to find the gates locked, and a filthy wooden shack occupied by a stinking mad engineer, who was promptly sent off to a sanitarium.

Sounds like fun, I'll join.

Name: Baltiel
Professions: Axe/Hammer training, whichever there are the least of.  If and when he cannot serve anymore, make him an engraver.
Male preferably.
