Have a repeater somewhere (linked to a checkerboard of hatches) in the tower that drops heretics with bad footing to their doom.

Beds that release horrid creatures from dwarves' dreams when they sleep in them.

Also, your story needs more crazed disco dwarf, *cough* like my character. *cough*

I think that there should be a tower that has alcoves made into its sides randomly.

like so.

He'll get his time in the sun. And it will sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nfd-idoDgs

Meanwhile!

From the Journals of Solon Wardbridges, Slate the 1st, 204
I did it. It's my fault.

After the meeting with Erith, I went to explain the situation to Inaluct. During our conversation, I may have thrown my hands skyward and said, "What else could go wrong?"

Ah, the God of Random disasters. He's perpetually unhappy because whenever someone makes a temple, something awful happens.
Because of this, he becomes vindictive and makes random accidents happen, not realising that this is why the temples fall down.
A vicious circle, one might say.

Hmm... So, I've heard there's a way to make salt water... uh, not salt water. I'm just not sure what it is. Anyone have a clue?

From what I know, using a pump on salt water will desalinate it as long as it doesn't touch any constructed walls or something along those lines. I never embark on oceans, so I don't know the process.

A pump desalinates water. Touching any non-desalinated water salinates it. Touching natural floor and walls salinates it. Therefore, building a large, enclosed tank and pumping water straight in is your best bet.

Where:
W-constructed wall (blocks or raw stone/wood/metal/etc)
~-saltwater
C-clean water
P-pump

Salt water is purified when it passes through a pump, but only if it then never touches a natural surface. Look at the bottom of this page  http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Screw_pump

All right. We doing this.

Fun FactTM:With the Save Red Fortune project, the build a goddamn wall around the tower project, the Holy Temple of Whatever project, and of course the bridge, we now have four major messes going on at once and only 26 dwarfs to work on them. When am I going to get some fucking migrants?
