Double. NO. QUADRUPLE IT.
« on: March 30, 2009, 07:16:08 am »

So, I'm thinking of making four forts on one map, all at the same time.  Dividing up the dorfpower as it streams in from the oppression of the mountain homes.

Is this possible?

Technically yes, but if you want the four forts to never interact with each other then being able to segregate the dwarves successfully can be a slight challenge, especially if you still want sieges and stuff.

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

because that's not the dwarven way. Could you make more statues of Urist instead of an impossibly large one chiseled out of the mountain? Sure, you could. If you want to be called a ninny elf by all your friends.

only 1 can do the trade depot at a time- maybe divide them be seasons, keep them inside most the time? open your airlock for carts only when necesary.

bigest problem, will be when they wander over to help the neighbors haul.... or dig. dwarves always dig the NW corner first.

Make a central Depot reachable by every mini-fortress, but have doors locked by levers in the way. Only one fortress may trade with a caravan per season.

I thought of this, and decided trading would be done in a military fashion, One central depot, supported by four forts, locked in with floodgates,  My oringinal line of thinking was to diversify each village, and fortify the depot, diverting off a small amount of trained professionals each year to serve in the military at the central depot.

The object of this isn't to try and make it seem like I'm running four forts at once, but rather, breathe some personality into each little village, by way of random reasorces, trade, and overall just function.

Okay, the area I selected has...

Dear. God.

Four pages of undead/skeletal fish.

The river is above my dwaves, by a few Z-Levels.
