Well, I have been practicing Spanish for quite some time. My mother has decided that it would be best to be immersed in the culture to improve, and I agreed. I had previously thought that I was going to take a trip to Mexico, but things have changed.

My mother has decided to send me to El Salvador with my aunt on a... Mission Trip. This is something I'm planning on stopping. Spreading Christianity is greatly in conflict with my religion, I would lose all of my dignity if I were forced to spread a religion I don't agree with. I understand that it's for my Spanish, but the mission trip's nature makes me feel uncomfortable.

What would make her think I wanted this?

She's not quite Christian. She sort of is, but not ultra-devout, or even orthodox in belief.

It also seems pointless to spread Christianity to a mostly-Christian nation, like ten people doing a mad dash to pour buckets of water into a lake.

Tell that's just not what you want to do.  Flatly and plainly.  I don't know how old you are, but your Mother certainly can't fore you to go to El Salvador for anything, and just straight up refusing will probably show her how against it you are.

Obviously, having an alternative in mind would be a good idea.  She probably suggested the Mission Trip thing because it was available and had a family connection.

I presented my rejection of the idea, and she hardly seemed to notice. She said that I didn't have to believe in it, and I don't. It's just against my code of honor to advocate something I don't believe in. She can't understand that. I may go and just keep out of the limelight, maybe help a little, as long as I don't have to go to any sort of church. I can't stand those places, they make me feel unwelcome. Except for catholic, those make me feel downright scared. I wonder if it's different in El Salvador.

No, look, you need to go say "I am not going to El Salvador," and you need to say it right fucking now.

No one should go proselytizing for a religion that they don't believe in, and you can't let your mother shoehorn you into doing this no matter what. Don't go and tacitly endorse your mother's decision by helping. There are plenty of better ways to learn Spanish that don't involve giving up your beliefs because someone won't listen. Don't let your family trample on what you believe.

My beliefs are secure. This is purely a matter of honor. Which my mother doesn't think is important.

Er, no.  Christianity is the largest single religion (with 1.5 - 2.1 billion followers), but Islam has 1.6B as well.  No religion has a majority (over 50%) of the earth's population.

But yeah. This would be your own choice. Having a comparable alternative would be best for your case, however.

Wait, what's the problem here? You get a free plane ride with your Aunt as she does something she's gonna do anyway.

Just because you're going with your Aunt doesn't mean you're a missionary trying to push Christianity onto people. Can't you go there and just live there normally?

What I'm trying to say is, you sound stuck up with this honor stuff. Just accept the free gift and be grateful.

You detest every bit of it. I'd think she's trying to build character. Even if you don't agree with it, if you end up there anyway, make the best of it and spread whatever messages in the gospel you can agree with. There's a lot in there many people would agree with. She might be trying to have you learn some respect for her beliefs, which isn't a bad thing. If you aren't going to go, then build some character anyway and ASSERT YOURSELF.

Whatever way you deal with this, don't go and not make the best of it by moping about because it's not exactly your kind of thing.

If you don't want to go with your aunt, refuse to. Not even your mother can force you to leave the country against your will.
