You take the files and overwrite the corrosponding files. You don't have to delete anything.

Okay. So I download it, it is one file. I put it in raws/objects. Correct? Because I did this, and nothing changed.

Because in the file, there should be folders saying things like RAWs or DATA and you just overwrite the files in DF with the same name.

I'll do so, just to help you, cause that's the kind of guy I am.

Wait up a minute

EDIT: It's a bit unhelpful the way they are set up. I'll find the appropriate RAWs, just wait a minute.

Wait, I was wrong. Its easier than it looks. Go to DF>raw>object and just dump all the files in there and it should work. Otherwise, I'm stumped.

EDIT: Kay, it works for me. Laro Lodpriests, female guardsman of the imperium, reporting for duty!

Yes. So, you copy everything in the file, into the folder raw>objects

Guardsman girl drowned. I am now playing as an ork who burns his victims bodys.

Okay, the one file with everythin in it was copied, but no luck.
Dwarves, elves, and humans are there. No chaos. No Imperium. No nothing.

What.

Hahaha, this thread. :psyduck:

Installing a mod: how to.

Optionally: Extract a 'fresh' copy of DF to a new folder named after your mod (or something)
Extract the mod (if it came in a zip folder) to some random folder.
Open up the random folder and look at what you have.
Typically, a mod only changes things in the raw/objects folder. so you should just have an 'objects' folder inside random folder. Refer to the original mod thread if it has any other changes than this.
Copy all mod .txt files in the random folder to your DF raw/objects folder, overwriting any existing files with the same name.
Delete the ENTIRE data/objects folder. (not needed if you use a fresh copy of DF)
Gen a new world.

Bit of a roundabout way of doing it but more useful than mine.

Did you know Orks could eat bones? I didn't know Orks could eat bones. It's awesome. I'm an Ork, and I'm eating a bone.

Okay.
Have a new DF.
I have the mod downloaded.
I put it into Notepad.
I put it into raw/objects
Start DF
Gen world
Start Adventure Mode...and

Result: Nope. Humans, Elves, and Dwarves. what am I doing wrong?
