(First off, yes, I like the TV series. So sue me, there's no accounting for taste.)

Idea:

You are an SG team, stranded on a sparsely-inhabited backwater planet. Something has happened to the Stargate that brought you here, and there's no going back - at least not in the foreseeable future. Since you have no communication with Earth, your priority is to survive. And since the planet is pretty low-tech, most of the technology available to you is.. antiquated, to put it kindly.

In addition, you must contend with strange and often frightening alien life forms, perhaps a hostile local humanoid civilization or two, and worse - the jaffa (and possibly their goa'uld leaders) who have a strangehold on what little life resides here. There are even whispers that a very powerful force of goa'uld has been sealed deep in the planet somewhere by the Asgard in the past...

But things aren't all bad. Undoubtedly, if you persist, humans who have been oppressed by the goa'uld will trickle over to your side. Certainly not all of the civilizations here are overtly hostile, and some might be willing to trade with you. And one day, maybe you'll be able to defeat the goa'uld in outright battle and liberate the people of this planet from centuries of misery...

Okay, so - I have virtually no modding experience. A bit of tooling around with raws here and there. But this seems like a good way to dive in and mess with a LOT of stuff, and learn how modding works. Undoubtedly it would be a fairly extensive project to undertake, but the idea appeals to my nerdy side.

Would anybody be interested in collaborating on something like this? Considering the theme is 'random alien planet', I'd like to go through the raws and pretty much make up an entirely new set of creatures, megabeasts, and civilizations (with some REAL megabeasts, that would give pause to even well-trained military squads, and possibly have them for lunch).

Oh, plus - bows will become 'zat guns', and crossbows 'assault rifles'. Just think, the in-game rate of fire will actually make sense!

I would love to play this mod. I have watched Stargate off and on for close to my entire life, and I've loved every moment of it.

I am willing to volunteer my services for this mod. I have extensive modding experience with almost every aspect of DF, and have even made a few mods, though all of them have been thoroughly unprofessional and for my own use only.

I'm only going to be available sporadically for the next few days though. A close member of the family is moving to Oregon for the foreseeable future.

Never got around to doing the entity definitions for them, though. And before you ask, this was part of a Sci Fi Mod. I've also got a stack of Star Wars, Star Trek, etcetera. Even things like Daleks and Transformers - it was always fun to run an Autobot Fortress when I was testing it all, and find them wearing things like Red Shirts, making Naquadah, and being invaded by Klingons  :)
