Just had my first megabeast!
« on: March 25, 2009, 12:02:04 pm »

A dragon.  Very scary!  I set up my military on alert, ordered them to put on their best gear, and forbid anyone to go outside.

It stomps ever closer, ever closer, when....  KACHUNK! It gets capped in a cage trap.  Very anti-climactic.

I'm going to try to tame him now.  Call him Gorbash, or something.

Edit:  Hi!  Been reading the forums for some time, finally decided to register and contribute.  Yes, came in with the wave from PA.

Btw, does anyone else find themselves making sounds to go along?  Like cage traps being sprung (my first siege was hilarious) or marksdwarves firing *thup*.

My first megabeast was a dragon too, not quite as anticlimactic, it was uninjured so I was slightly worried; but it just sat about 5 tiles from the edge of the map until I sent a champion over. One hit and its dead.

i love how hilariously bugged the megabeasts are, im unsure if any are even alive in my current world...
Although they have the potential to do horrible, horrible things to a fort, they rarely get the chance, most of the time it seems they either die in worldgen, or are rendered useless by injuries sustained in said worldgen. (hes called stumpy, i dont care that he has no legs, hes perfect as he is)

Also, Welcome to the forums!  although noone ever welcomed me  :'(

Love, jakkarra

EDIT: minor spelling and syntax issues

One of my earlier megabeasts was able to get past my magma flow machine before I had a chance to start it, only to be killed by the first stone-fall trap.

Back in the 2D days was when I got my first megabeast, a bronze colossus. It died in magma, as per all enemies back in the day. Monkey invasion? Magma. Elves? Magma. Goblins? Magma.

Man, I miss those days.

You will need the Dungeon master to tame the dragon...
But please, do so
tame dragons are LOTS of fun hehe

Well perhaps you should've registered "Warlord", instead of "Warlord255"? What the hell is that 255 after your nick anyways?  ;D

Yeah, tamed him.  Chained him up near the lake that is near my gate.

In a goblin ambush, he set them all on fire, who then proceeded to leave the area.  Very neat and large area of effect, but fairly non-lethal (at least, it's a slow death, not as quick as I'd like.)

Maybe I'll just chain him in my murder pit.

you should make a muder pit thats around 3 lvls deep, throwing gobbos in there should just maim them, you can then have a nice exit for them to craw to, but have your dragon inside a little nook to fry them before they escape, any that do, however, DESERVE to live...

I'm gonna include something like this in my current fort, first priority! :D
