Virtueflags - Where sands converge
« on: March 24, 2009, 01:42:22 pm »

"You're sending me WHERE!?", Urist cried out.
"'tis only a desert, nah need tae be so mad about it. Lots'o sand an'... sand... look, the area's full of magnetite an' platinum, tha place is a gold mine, except it may be lacking somewha' in gold...", the count responded.
"Armok blast it, i'm not going out in the middle of nowhere with six total strangers just for some metals that might as well be a rumor!"
"I bet ya ten thousand gold coins ye will, Urist."
"Ten thou..."
It's the ultimate trick in the book, Urist thought. Gold. All this gold, gold, gold. Whatever was so important about it Urist couldn't figure. It's just another kind of metal! Hell, you couldn't even make decent weapons out of it! Of course, he'd been a trader all his life and understood the value of gold by others enough to make lots of money out of it but this...
"Also, don't ye tell me the chance to get tae be the leader of a vast community ain't something desirable."
Urist sighed. "Twenty thousand. And i get to pick whom I'm going with."
"Alright, alright lad, there are tons o' young dwarves out there just dying to be a part of yer deathtra... err... expediton. Pick your six, we'll have yer supplies ready by morning."

Theres an aquifier, so we have water. Also, i played an experiment fort with this area for a while and found a magnetite vein and a platinum vein next to each other so we have iron and platinum as well.

Other than that, the pure awesomeness of this area is the fact that this is the point where three different types of sand meet (hence the "Where sands converge" in the title).

Anywho, adding.

Heartly:
3(Cant remember what 3 is) Swordsdwarf, shield user, 1(Cant remember what one is :l) miner.

We can make green glass. Anyway, when you choose theskills, why does it have to say 5. When its 0. :l Very confusing. So 3 is 8 and 1 is 6.

That number is how many points it costs to add a level of that skill. So adding a novice level to one skills costs 5 points.

Anywho, adding it.

Name: Dastot(Dwarven for sword)
Job: novice weaponsmith/proficient liar

If you don't want to give others social skills(because of the risk that they'll become mayor instead of urist) Just make that proficient swimming, then.

Also, D_J, I doubt swimming will come up much in a desert map with no aquifer. :P

I'll take whatever is left.  Which at this point I think is carpentry.

I'll take one of the first immigrants, since the original seven are taken.  If that's not a problem.

(I'll give the info when you get them)

Hey man, when you get immigrants can i get a siege engineer/siege operator/mechanic called Ubique? either gender is fine, and a bit of military service never did a dwarf any harm (excluding all the times where a dwarf was harmed by being in the military e.g. sparring)
