I do recall in a famous book about thirteen dwarves and a hobbit one famous dragon getting killed with one arrow. I thought it was a bit cheap, too.
artifact damage is wayyy out of line.

However, the next ambush was in a sinister region. While he did survive the ambush, he didn't travel with us anymore (probably because he passed out). So the hammerman and I left him to rot in a sinister forest with only 1 arm and 1 leg. Better than insta-death I'd say. ;)

I once named my marksdwarf ''The incredible Lungpiercer'' because he insta-killed 4 goblins in a row by hitting both their lungs with 1 shot each. he was pretty awesome, thought later he got his eye ripped out when a goblin pierced his skull but he survived. its kinda amazing that he melee killed like 5 goblins to and 1 was a master.

It was a lucky shot.  ;)
Yeah it's kinda weird when 1 bolt kills a dragon, or when 1 unskilled spearsdwarf kills a dragon alone. Combat should be more realistic in the next version, thanks to the layers + some combat/damage related changes. Anyways, these unrealistic moments will disappear after the combat arc gets implemented, I am pretty sure about that.  ;)

They won't disappear entirely.  The Achilles heel should, on rare occasions, get hit by the first arrow.

Well yeah, I agree....if it happens within reasonable limits.  :)

Hmm... Someone should release a mod that jacks up megabeasts to be a real danger. I imagine that the frequency of megabeast visits is determined by how many there are? So maybe make them breed like bunnies or something.

This is a Dwarven corpse. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of pathetic and menaces with spikes of fail.

If I could run it for more than a game-year without it crashing that would be nice.'

For now, civ. forge has its share of uber-beasts.

Okay, I hear the Amayi Cacieruwa Thali Nelare “Amayi Gildgems the Brand of Silver” has arrived, and I ordered my Dwarves inside, and my soldiers to the fortifications and the inner catwalks.
I raise the drawbridge, and then notice Kib Girethbomrek Tobul Tholtig wandering around outside.  Kib is a champion wrestler/swordsdwarf, armed with iron/steel plate mostly, and an iron scimitar and a bronze shield, but has a brown neck wound.
So I'm panicking, ordering the bridge to be lowered and the guards to charge out as the dragon approaches, hopefully to save the dwarf, when...
I notice the dragon has started fighting with the dwarf, and is now unconscious with a light grey front right claw wound.  Then it dies.  I have no idea how.
And the Dwarf goes on her merry way.

The dwarven economy is just a stand-in, from what I understand. As it is, it represents an actual economic system about as well as poison ivy represents a salad.
