Europa Barbarorum
« on: March 24, 2009, 05:28:46 am »

Right since theres no topic on it specificly and I'm currently enjoying a couple awesome campaigns in it so far I made a topic.

http://www.europabarbarorum.com/

For you barbarians who haven't played it, its a beyond awesome mod for RTW, (though any of the newer EXEs work.)

Currently enjoying a Romani (208BC), Aedui (205 BC) and Pontos (260 BC) Campaign.

Romani atm is quite fun, the AI expansion went rather insane in the East and is promising me fun wars if I get that far.

My friends at keep bragging about their conquests in Empire: Total War. My computer won't run it...

I do have Rome however and have played this mod a while back. I played with  the Kartadashim(Carthage). I think I'll install it again and give Sarmathoi a try.

Sauromatae :p

Also their fun, though horse archers aren't my cup of tea, though 1 family member can fight quite well alone in defense of a city.

Just remember as a Nomad Horse archer faction you don't need full stacks early on to accomplish objectives.

Europa Barbarorum is not RTW, Europa Barbarorum really changes stuff so much that its a completely different game.

yeah EB is the greatest mod ever. Looks like EB II is still ways off, and will be using MTW 2, not ETW as a base, which is unfortunate. Naval combat could be an interesting twist...

Well if it was ETW I wouldn't be able to play at all.

Also doesn't ETW have a problem with ramming? EB time from naval combat was extremely centric about ramming your foes ship.

There is collision in ETW naval battles, it is not a major way of defeating an enemy of course but its there. Should be easy to mod in more dynamic qualities to make it more ram friendly. The naval battles are damn hard though, I imgine when they get added to a Rome timeframe they will continue to be very challanging. I ussually use auto resolve because the naval cannon AI is a bitch.  Rome era should be more ship-borne infantry battles, which would rock.

Other features from ETW would include usage of farms, university and many other village-centers to create a more detailed regional development. But of course that is besides the point heh, if there is going to be a EB III I am sure we will see these things.

oh forgot to add this teaser video youtube clip that was released a ways back for EBII just in case anyone is interested-
