Road biking, playing bass, cooking, and I just started learning how to use a potter's wheel. Apparently I have some kind of talent; my friend who was teaching me said I progressed way faster than most beginners. My goal is eventually to make all my own plates/cups/bowls etc. And never have to buy people presents again; people go nuts for handmade Christmas presents.

growing herbs, drying herbs, cooking, brewing beer and coffee, cultivating bonsai, pet rat, games of many descriptions; modding oolite and civ4, pc games, boardgames, various cardgames, tabletop games. Hoping to code a game someday, but more likely a simulation.
graphical art, calligraphy mostly. carving wooden staves, crafting chainmail. roleplaying...sadly not recently.
paintball. reading fantasy and scifi novels. being a wiseass.
Being with my sexy, chubby, voluptuous girlfriend, likes cinema etc.

Thinking of joining a gamingclub, so as to find victims for my more complex aqcuisitions.

Areyar: What type/types of beer do you brew?

Lot of cooks on here, I've noticed. That's a good thing. I've been cooking, and learning to cook, for pretty much my whole life. I can bake too, but my wife's better at it. I do make pretty good waffles from scratch, and Yorkshire pudding, though.

The only thing I don't do, as far as Italian cuisine goes, is make my own pasta, because I'm bad at it. I've done it before, and except for gnocci, it always turns out crap. Lately, I've been learning more about French and Chinese/Vietnamese cuisines. I also do Indian, and Mussaman Thai style curries, and a lot of recipes from all over.

I wonder if you guys really have that many hobbies or really just like listing down stuff to win some internet contest...

In any case, I got a job as a head chef at a small restaurant. I think it's pretty impressive... considering I'm still a university undergraduate student who isn't even doing culinary arts. Apparently I beat out at least 3 other candidates who were culinary arts and hospitality majors. I hope to learn some new cooking techniques from this position though.

There's a certain lure to threads like these to list every single thing you've ever thought about doing, since like 1984, I have to admit.

I've been resisting the temptation pretty well, so far, I think.

Let me know what you learn? I'd be interested. I've never taken any courses in cooking. I've been cooking practically on a daily basis since I was about 4 years old, so I'd only be doing it for the document, at this point, and I don't have any interest in being a professional chef.

Define "hobby".
depending on your definitions, I have between 0 and uncountable.
Something that is easier to list is "art forms that I practice in an irregular basis":
- 3d animation/modelling (in autodesk Maya)
- painting/drawing (in GIMP, I'm crippled to death without undo or layers and so is unable to use physical media)
- programming, (for years, in all sorts of languages, and still have never produced ANYTHING useful)
- roleplaying, (the biggest time sink by far and I'm made of constant fail.)
- writing, (I dont even get to the typing stage most of the time, I generally plan out the setting in absurd detail and then cant think of a plot.)

I suck, ignore me.

If you guys want, I can do little cooking tutorials with pictures. Should help those going to college or moving out on your own. Maybe some stir-fry or cooking basics like "how to fry an egg"? Hehehe...

To be honest, 3 years ago, I didn't even know how to cut an onion.

Yes, I love cooking, but I don't know how! Basic concepts elude me, so I try to avoid it. I'm a pretty good cook, if I say so myself, but the only time I do cook is when I'm literally scraping the back of the cupboard for something to eat.

Also, hearing you talk about it makes me hungry.
