Copy it into data\init\world_gen.txt, run DF, and then create a new world with perameters.
I also suggest you change the MEDIUM at the top of the file to another title so it doesn't interfere with the default game's MEDIUM perameter set.

alright, wrote in the seed, got a slightly wrong world name, but got the place.  moved the embark one to the right to get the additional savanna biome, started my digging out, my random rooms all carved out, just setting up the farms, and random crash.

Still, looking forward to draining that pipe into the pit while fortifying the chasm.

I just thought of, when my fort dies, I'll make a new one, using the chasm. I'll dig straight in to it and make a few bridges. It would all be accesible by only one bridge. Bridges everywhere in the chasm. Rooms, workshops and such would be around the chasm. When its going good enough, I'll make a few towers pop off the ground.

Whiel building forts around chasms looks cool - providing dwarves with windows out into the chasm, etc, it's actually not all that great - it's the spiders, you see. The dwarves will find their bedrooms full of cobwebs, and will be harassed by vermin (cave spiders) constantly.

A cat is risky, have but one and be free of vermin, have 2 and be prepared to hit a spiral.
For the best: put a lever attached to the bridge into your hanging meeting hall, just in case the catsplosion comes to pass... its a more honorable end than abandoning.

Remember, you can have 10 male cats and avoid a catsplosion easily when a female arrives, but you can't say the same for the opposite.
