However, when you look at the different biomes in an area (F1, F2, etc), the game will embark you somewhere on the biome that you had last selected when you embarked. That can sometimes help you shift where you embark to an area you're happier with.

Yeah posting after two hours of sleep isn't the best way to make a point as spelling goes out the window~ I'll try the things you mentioned and give it another go.

Basically as a awake restatement: Basically I tried around 8 times to get close to that spot either ending up in the mini cave (where the river flows through or closer to the bottom of the map area. Couldnt Figure out what settings I should be using in the site [F]inder.

Hmm. Necropost, but why doesen't this pull up the right site in 40d11? Decided to try it, and it won't give me the magma pipe.

World gen must be slightly different from d10 to d11.

Yeah, I get a completely different map in D11. Really annoying, I love this site!

Wow - you know, I thought I saw some aberrant behaviour once, but could never duplicate it, figured it was some random tweak.  Good to know, I'll have to play with that!

Every time I attempt to embark after selecting a biome DF crashes, guess I'm unlucky.

I just genned this map with vanilla 0.28.181.40d11; with the exact same layout as the screen dumps.

Are you running vanilla or modded?

Vanilla D11. I literally just unzipped it, copypasted the worldgen, and it wouldn't find the site.

The *large serrated steel disk* strikes the Raven in the head, tearing apart the muscle, shattering the skull, and tearing apart the brain!
A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

I haven't searched the thread, but couldn't someone just upload the basic map files if the seed genning doesn't work?

I tried a few(15) more times and cant seem to find the spot. I downloaded the version someone posted a few pages back so im not sure if it has the magma or not. Running afaik vanilla dwarf with mayday tileset. Any suggestions on to what Features I should punch in the [F]inder?

River, magma pipe, bottomless pit, other features, underground river, underground pool.

Yeah, none.

Instead go to the very first post in this thread, and match your map to the image there.

(Or that's how I'd do it)  ;)

S - you could try gen'ing it in 40d, and then copying that to d11.

Otoh, there is no reason this should happen.  No game-code changed in d11, just how it interfaces with your PC.

This is a sweet map, even outside of all the features. It's got a really nice shape and varied topography.

Having the river right next to the bottomless pit makes it really easy to drain your water-filled meat grinder.

Reminds me of the old Smata Xomlox seed from last year. Place was totally sick (entire fort in obsidian) but no goblins :(

What version is this for? How do I import that text file?
