Question:  Well if the physical strata is the same down to the tile but hte ore changes, couldn't we gen this baby until some iron showed up?  Then zip the world and hand it out?

That would fix the dealbreaker for some...

You really need sedimentary layers for Iron, and i havn't seen any sediment on this map no matter what version i gen it in.

Lots of Obsidian though you lose out on Flux if you do that gen.

Merg. My dorfs keep going to collect the Spider Silk and being killed by the local fauna. Is there anyway to universally forbid an object?

Turn off "weaver" on any dwarf that's not actually using that workshop, and lock your real weaver in the loom when they're working. 

And/or wait for it to accumulate, turn on the collection, then send a military escort.

i think you can turn "auto collect [w]eb" off... so no more collecting.

haven't tested it yet though.

Yea, Lesconrads has it right. That's what I did to keep my dwarves from attracting GCS attention to themselves.

You really need sedimentary layers for Iron, and i havn't seen any sediment on this map no matter what version i gen it in.

I got plenty of hematite on most gens.

I still have the gen I embarked on. No flux, but has sand and hematite.

I'm finding a cure for the cave adaption disease!

This post caused me to register. That and this map. Wowee!
Simple, but incredibly creative. Bonus points if you can name them all after scientists or reward them based on their inadvertently-creative merrits (living quarters, etc.).
Incredible map find. I love how compact it is.
My attempt on this one is going to be trying to carve a dwarven face into the cliff face inside the circular chasm.  By levers, a large red tongue will be the drawbridge, and whenever it closes, floodgates behind the clear glass eyes will make his coutenance weep uncontrollably onto the fortress god's enemies.
Too bad I can't make bone blocks or something to form his teeth...
Any other thoughts on the afformentioned Mt. Uristmore?

His nostrils should serve as a vantage point for your marksdwarves to fire down at their enemies from.  Oh, and he'll need a beard.
