So after a safe, happy two years, where the few dangers I had were easily dealt with, a caravan arrived right next to the chasm. First came the trogs and the ratmen, they destroyed most of the caravan, but one merchant, one swordsdwarf, and one hammerdwarf survived. The hammerdwarf started over the mountain toward the Depot anyway, for some reason, and that's where the GCS caught him. Luckily, before he died, he managed to heavily damage its abdomen. Figuring that was as good a time as any to kill the GCS, especially since everything the caravan had was lying very near its lair, I sent 9 legendary wrestlers after it.
Six dead wrestlers later, I had only damaged a few of its legs, and I was getting scared. So I sent my Ultra-Mighty, Unbelievable Agile, Perfectly Tough Miner/Mason after it. Now, just a few weeks earlier, the GCS had murdered my mayor/broker/organizer/bookkeeper, and the Miner/Mason was forced to take over all of his jobs. So he runs up, copper pick in hand, and here's where it gets really crazy. He swings, twice. First time, he takes out a leg, second time, he ruins another leg and gets his pick stuck in it. One attack later, the Spider is dead. I don't know where he hit him or how, but he murdered the thing with his bare hands.
He's getting a golden tomb atop an obsidian tower, all natural-made obsidian, so it can have thousands of engravings of his glorious victory.
Also, a fire imp attacked one of my haulers. The hauler dodged three firebursts unscathed, then teamed up with another hauler and ripped the imp in half. I was very proud.
