here's the copy of the world i generated. looks the same as op's picture, but uses unmodified 40d10 (except for world_gen.txt, obviously). may be useful if you can't generate if yourself for some reason.

Totally awesome! I just genned it myself, on 40d, and found the site without any problems whatsoever. Just as a test I opened up the magma pipe into the pit, and it indeed refills itself. It's actually the first site I have that has these awesome features, so I can just go and build a huge lava moat I can flush when needed

I embarked on a site once with all the right characteristics. Volcano, chasm, adamantite, sand, the works. I hit "E", and whoa! Started right next the volcano, in the middle of a dense forest. Oh, hello mr fire imp. Oh, a tree caught fire. Oh, the other trees caught fire as well. And then so did my dwarves.

Literally, the whole screen was ablaze within a minute. Burning dwarves running everywhere, setting even more stuff on fire. I was laughing my ass off

The seed just doenst seem to work for me... anyone have a zipfile of the region they can e-mail?

I've tried the seed and I am having a HORRIFIC time trying to make it work (at the time of writing I've had 11000 rejected sites and a couple of warnings)

is it supposed to run like this or am I doing something horribly wrong, and if I am, could someone please direct me to a FAQ in regards to seed-typing-in-related-stuff-er....-yeah.

Now it's back to watching the complete season of firefly while DF does it's work.

A wild horse ran into the GCS (and I got a 'ambush, drive them out!' warning, D:) where should I start dropping kittens to find her gigantic creepy web?

Also, what are suggested tactics as to fighting it? I've lost a few stupid haulers and am mostly safe atm. Should I just build a buttload of cage traps and wait for my DM?

Gah, i was forced to abandon. First of all, the caravan got ambushed by a giant cave spider and got the crap beaten out of them, then eight immigrants arrived which i had barely managed to carve rooms out for (and made beds, thank the gods.)

I then notice that Rhesus's are toying with the caravans forbidden stuff, so i make a huge everything stockpile and send all of my dwarves to carry it back to the fortress.

Turns out the fire imps didn't really like monkeys and promptly fireballed one, setting the area around there on fire. Then troglodytes came.

Fun.

I've claimed the pit as my future fortress, with a trade road approach over the magma. Got everything hauled inside alright and finally killed off the imps, with the world burning down only twice (no casualties, by sheer luck alone). Barely managed to keep the rhesus' at bay (with some help from the world being on fire.) Now trying to trap the GCS, discovered by a groundhog, who nuked the human liaison a year ago setting on human sieges in addition to the orc ones and the gobbo ambushes. The pit would be easier if not for the giant bats freaking everyone out. I hope the orcs bring elephants or spiders, just to top everything else off.

Still haven't found flux, but I did find the underground river.

It's a pretty good megaproject site, but not all that dangerous. Oh, the GCS web is right where the fingers of the chasm open out on the right side. Kitten found it for me. I've never caught a GCS before. It's proving rather difficult...

ok, 16665 rejected sites (ominous number) and I came up with an area that remotely looks like it. But not even close as far as the utopia angle goes.

Again, I will request that an FAQ on transferring code OR as stated in an earlier idea a ZIP fie with all the goodies in it be delivered to my e-mail.

if you do not know my e-mail, message me and maybe I'll give it to you.

The only question that remians is how I pronounced message.............
