Having just played it, all I can say is bleh. It's dota pretty much, no history mode, just a tournament and the gameplay itself is too boring for my tastes.

Maybe people will like it for online play, but I don't see how. *shrugs*

o.o Sounds like fun actually. Just need to get a new monitor, then install Warcraft III again.

That is, unless anyone knows how to get it to play in window mode. My monitor is broken, so most things can't go fullscreen.

Can't seem to get it into windowed mode, but I didn't try much. I played twice, deleted it.

Your avatar doesn't grow at all, only the rook is that big and it doesn't even seem big actually. The spawned npcs all act on their own, you have no control over them, which is not bad, but you as player use them to farm xp. You have control over some npcs that are summoned by powers, if your character allows that.

Once your side of the map is fucked up, there's hardly any way to win, so yeah, once a team gets a flag or destroys a fort in the other side of the map, you can pretty much consider the game over unless your team has at least one rook to plant temporary defenses, which aren't all that good anyway.

I've never actually played it, but I thought so, from what I heard.

Made me not want to try dota as well. =p

Err... you're not supposed to play with AI. That's not how these games are played.

Not that I'm defending DoTA, oh no.

I tried with the 'nightmare' AI, but it was just a back and forth game. I kind of imagine playing with real players would be similar.

Reminds me of the people who complain about how Counterstrike sucks for singleplayer...

I hate counterstrike and I think I'd have more fun playing it than Demigod online. =/

I know what you meant, but what I said was literal. Take a look at what this rook is doing during online gameplay. He's having sex with the ground. Most of the gameplay resumes on that, going back and forth, not as frantically as that rook trying to plant towers, but yeah.

Imagine yourself surrounded by 12 frantic, raving friends in a loud, bustling cybercafe, screaming over each other's heads trying to get that damn character to fuck the ground properly. Then after the match is over, going out for a drink with the whole bunch laughing about the experience and planning new strategies.

That's the appeal of DoTA. That's why DoTA is so popular in *other* countries.

Granted, you probably have no idea of what cybercafe culture is like so.... myeh. I don't blame you.

I remember hearing about this and being interested, but then becoming progressively less so as I learned more about it as well.  I hadn't even heard of DoTA until last year.

Ah...
Oh well, my school is infected.
It is home to the most smart persons of the country.

And roughly HALF of them play DoTA after school!
(well, me too :P)

Anyway, the fun comes when you KILL KILL MAIM RAEP your opponents.

Which is a pro

using a n00b itemset.

No one at my school plays DotA.  No one at my school plays games at all.  It's a sad, sad place for me.

Huh? I think that it will be very different.
