Only one of them gets that large as far as I seen and since your playing mostly zoomed out it won't seem that impressive.

Same here. though closer to Classical Dota back when upgrading your home base was part of the strategy.

It's amazingly popular outside of the US. If you select three people out of the crowd in any part of Eastern or Southeastern Asia or even Eastern Europe, at least one will be an avid DoTA player.
