That video looked exactly like DotA.

Like, dead on DotA.  The creep waves, the heroes.  The FIRST BLOOD.

To think. DotA is trying to make a DotA as we speak. Though it is suprisingly bad. What was it called.

League of Legends?

Welcome to the world of DotA clones!!! NOOO!!!!

Some of the gameplay elements looks "DotAish", but who cares? If the game itself will be decent, I surely won't care too much.  ;)

That's the thing though, if it's just like DotA it won't be decent.

My major issue with DotA is just that it is too popular for its own good. Not a "It is popular so I don't like it anymore" it is more of a "Hey guys, there are other games in the world other then DotA".

The problem is that DotA actually looks like a better game then both Demigod and League of Legends

In fact DotA being better then League of Legends is probably the most odd... I mean... Your free from the Warcraft 3 codes. You can do ANYTHING you want... but no... You make it as mundane as possible while having even weirder heros.

Demigod just looks bland. Sure we get giant heros but what do they do? Well, nothing really. They don't do enough to really show off the power of these demigods. The most I got is the Rook being able to knock enemies back with its normal attack.

Honestly game creators. You have the ability to make something better then DotA, something more powerful and more diverse. Why are you treating it like a limbo contest?

They're selling to the market.  The hardcore competitive gamers don't want diversity.  They've found a minor and irrelevant thing they're good at, and that's all the want to do.

Fox only isn't a rule so much as a good idea. Fox and Falco are superior to the rest of the SSBM cast.

Ike is annoying comparatively. I prefer samus and pit. Pit tactic - Run.

Running away doesn't win games. Especially not against characters with reflectors. They aren't superior because they're more fun, they're superior because they melt faces.

Also, Pit wasn't in Melee. There is no competitive Brawl.

Imagine yourself surrounded by 12 frantic, raving friends in a loud, bustling cybercafe, screaming over each other's heads trying to get that damn character to fuck the ground properly.
What kind of fucked up world are you living in that you have 12 friends? It must have rainbow ponies too. Okay, jokes apart, brazil has a heavy cybercafe culture, if you go to any lanhouse here they will be playing counterstrike or something similar. But I'm anti-social with 3 good irl friends which is more than enough to me, my online gaming fun comes from tf2 and dystopia mostly, but I always try whatever game comes out, so in my context, I can't imagine demigod being fun to play online, but yeah, if you were in a cybercafe with a bunch of people you call friends, sure, anything can be fun until someone gets hurt.

I got introduced to DotA at work the other day.

It was okay, I guess.  I kind of went 'buh?' a lot.  I don't quite get the appeal.

It kind of made me miss the old Starcraft games like Zergling Blood.  A little.

I found a copy of Warcraft 3 in a thrift store.  I don't like online that much but I figured, hey, Starcraft was fun single player, and WoW presumably has this big story that WC3 leads up to.  So I played it, was bored to tears by the campaign, tried a skirmish, and realized that absolutely nothing about WC3 skirmishes was anything remotely like what I considered 'fun'.

Well, I'm not in the target audience I guess!  *apathy*

Soulwynd: I don't understand your joke... was it an insult? Don't people usually have more than 12 friends? I've cybercafed with the entire cafe booked just for ourselves before too (40-50 people).

Sowelu: Don't worry. You aren't the only one. I think a lot of us here hate that game. I can barely tolerate it myself. I just understand the reasoning to why people play it.  It's like Cthulhu said, people are afraid of change and once they find one thing they're good at, it becomes hard to let go. It's also why Starcraft is so damn popular in Korea.

Not in my world, no. I don't even have 12 irl acquaintances. Which is why yours must have rainbow ponies and gummy bears. xD

I had some fun with Warcraft 3 custom maps, mostly hero sieges and tower defensec, but there are many things that people do with warcraft 3 then warcraft 3 and defence of the ancients.

I find the problem with defence of the ancients is the people who play it. There are many items and many abilities and if you don't memorise a good number of them then you will not be competitive. If you are not competitive then both teams will heckle you and you will fall behind in power resulting in a severe lack of fun. So the people who end up playing it are either masochists or out for revenge...

Well, okay, to be fair that isn't everyone, but between the people who tell people to go play on a 'noob' server, and the people who crash new player servers just to satisfy their addiction to mocking other people it is very easy to end up with the impression that if defence of the ancients suddenly vanished from the world that it would be difficult to feel anything other than satisfaction at the lamentations of its former thralls...
