Am I the only one trying to imagine Scrubs/House with an all-dwarf cast?

Also, I am totally going to use "Too much blood in your alcohol system"

It's either lupus or the spear in his gut. Treat him for the lupus. If he dies, we'll get more in the spring.

End the slaughter of dorf kittens!
No self respecting beard wants to wear his pet as clothing! Dorfs need population control for pets and bad thoughts from products made from the animals they choose to bond with.

Wait so just so I understand this; will a lack of soap mean that dwarf surgeries have a higher chance of causing infections?

Also they clean themselves with it, I get that part.

[Healthcare Update Thread] Personally, I can't wait for doctors to get possessed and start surgically attaching axes to champion soldier's arms.

Well, back in the Olde Dayes O' Yore they used soap for everything. It was pretty much the only real medicine they had around, and they did sort of have a basic idea about sterlization.

They might have been a little overzealous in its application. "Eviseration, protruding organs and an imbalance of the humors... I need a lot of soap for this one".

But yeah, I think soap might actually be of use in the game now. I'm just wondering if doctors will be getting moody and creating artifact splints and artifact pressure dressings or whatever the hell...

I still like the idea of sending naked wrestlers with two arms in slings out on patrol duty. "If you find anything, call for help, and then kick them"

I love how in the dry run, the doctor inspected himself instead of the patient.  "Well, I don't know about you, but I feel great!  Buck up me'boy, it's too nice a day to sulk about."

But yes, this is totally awesome.  With all this new room/item/worker/skills interaction going on, healthcare will be the new cornerstone industry of dwarf fortresses for a while.  Can't wait to see it all extended out to other jobs, but for now, DF is going to look a lot like Theme Hospital.

Oh god, if dwarves start getting nauseous....mexican waves of vomit spiralling around the underhalls. :o
