UFO Hunters
« on: March 20, 2009, 10:29:59 pm »

What a stupid show!
I mean really, all they do is interview some guys that had just came out of a strip bar and just saw the loch ness monster, or some backwoods farmer that thinks he/she just saw a UFO.

Anybody else had the bad luck of watching it?

Everything on history channel these days is utter crap.

Look at BattlesBC, they make out Hannibal to be some half naked Gaesatae charging roman lines himself.  You could probably get more facts from the sci-fi channel.  History channel is just for hour long 300 remakes.

And MonsterQuest, and the Real story of the Bible, and Nostradamus predictions about the end of the world, and Ice Road Truckers.  Essentially, everything but actual history.

The UFO Hunters one in particular is astounding.  The people they find are as bad as Creationists - everything is the Aliens' fault!

Pfft. Give me a winch, give me a pulley, give me a few other men, I'll build you a pyramid.

Exactly, all it takes is slaves, and time.

The Sci-Fi channel is changing it's name to the SyFy channel. Probably because the Histroy channel is broadcasting more (pseudo)science fiction than they are.

And to shed their image as a "nerd" channel for some reason.  Which is silly, because they took care of that a few years back with Professional Wrestling and all those in-house horror movies.  Isaac Asimov was probably rolling in his grave.

Yeah, I can't believe that the Scifi Channel is changing it's name either.

I was so disappointed that they stopped airing Mystery Science Theater 3000 that I almost stopped watching the channel altogether.

It's like Techtv changing to G4 all over again. The original Techtv, with the computer help shows and the occasional anime, was great. Now it doesn't even show up on my cable.

Just like Oxygen (the channel for women) for some reason.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.

Yes yes yes. TV is rapidly degrading and we're all angry about it and now we're talking about how angry we're about it on the computer.

Let that last part sink in a few moments.

See?

TV time for me is being rapidly replaced by Computer Time. I don't even TURN ON the TV anymore.

Do you?

Honestly, no, I don't.  The only time I ever see TV is over at my friends' houses.  If there's a show I want to watch (and there's precious few of those nowadays), I either see it on the Internet or buy the DVD.  Commercial breaks kick my suspension of disbelief in the gonads anyway.

I hear The Wire is pretty tight, so I'm gonna give that a try in the next little bit.  Anybody have any opinions on it?
