question about fire imps

if a fire imp lost its right hand and wrist will it die? if so how long will i have to wait

A lost limb isn't always enough to kill something.

A good rule of thumb is that if it doesn't die within 30 seconds or so, it probably isn't going to die from the injury. Not always the case, but usually.

The last one in my fort survived a couple years with a mangled arm before coming up again (and promptly springing a cage trap  8)) so yeah, it takes more than that to stop them.
