Forget that.  Maybe your DWARFS are trying to tell you something.  Those sacrificial miners really hate their jobs.

I did have a DF related dream fragment, the 2d/3d/weird perspective would be hard to describe, one of those only-makes-sense-in-half-remembered dream things.

I was pulling a lever, and a peasant-colored dwarf walks up to me. Er, paths up to me.

The whole thing made my brain go WTF WTF and I woke up :)

And I also spend boring lecture time drawing circles on grid paper.

I got caught by my history teacher once by ignoring his lecture on the causes for world war 2 ( we were revisiting it in Junior year of highschool) and instead detailing in extreme amount how I was going to acheive my projected goals for my fortress, supplies I'd be needing, a detailed drawing of how my new housing wing would look, projected cost for each room, jobs needed to furnish and smooth each room, jobs needed to complete the whole wing, how many and which workers I'd need, their skill levels (roughly, I don't memorize them) etc. My teacher was a real cynical guy, and when I had to explain the premise of the game to him so he could understand what the hell I was drawing and why I was, he told me to email him a fresh game folder and a notepad file with any advice I'd think he'd need. He still plays and loves the game, and we constantly talk, during class, in dwarf memes that the rest of the class just stares at us blankly. One time we were discussing the Great Depression in a review, and he asked me what I'd think would've been needed to prevent it. I told him that if the economy had been disabled it wouldn't have even been a problem, and he told me that we could've left it on if we based the economy of off goods produced from cats.

I'm jealous, and I do the same thing, it is more like a hobby, or a past time.

So how large are the squares?

I have dreams about Aquatic Car Hornets, they scare me.

"I've had enough of this mother-carping carps on this mother-carping fort!"

i deem this the new catchphrase of DF, also, Sig'd

Also, unfortunately, i keep trying to introduce people i know to DF, but they all seem to thing im weird for playing it? apparrantly i shouldlent be "wasting my time" playing it, and "its not even 3d" and its "too small to see" and "WTF, carp arent dangerous?"

so far ONE person ive talked to even took a mild interest in it, but i doubt he understands it fully...

I suppose these cretins will never appreciate it untill we has 3dwarf realtime (which im not that bothered about)

love, Jakkarra

They have to be geeky enough to disregard ASCII at first (Curse you Wolfenstein for making people crave 3-D). Then, you make them read Boatmurdered. And point them to Wiki and some tutorials, CaptDuck's vids or TinyPirate's tuts. They'll see the light, hopefully.

On topic, and to place the Thread back on its rails, possibly there could be a small construction that must be placed next to the bridge? if this is destroyed (not neccesarily counting as a building) the bridge is stuck in the down position, mayby untill repair? prbably needs to be able to be destroyed by arrows, too.

Love, jakkarra

EDIT, dammit, wrong thread.....

Guys, we need to start recruiting the right people is the key thing. Everyone knows that when the zombies start attacking, all the DF players will show up at Toadys and create our own mountainhome in his backyard, leading the human resistance force. When that day comes, do we want to have recruited elves and sissies into the ranks of the fortress builders? Or do we want the cynicals and the crazy, true dwarves at heart?

Ok Sonerohi, this is how we do it.

We have a poll, or better yet a series of polls, that would work as a super-psycho-personality test.

Things that would search for who was truely the most dwarfly. Then using these match up the most dwarfly with the least dwarfly of the dwarfly and then breed a group of average-rank dwarves, then cull out the lower class leaving only average and upper. Continue until you have all Five S top ranked dwarves.

This is the fastest way to do it, I know because I've done extensive testing in... *cough Sonic Adventure 2, Battle cough* I learned so much from that game.

Questions could be like, "What is more logical:

1) Create a machine to scan the surrounding area for irregularities to avoid,

2) Hold a gun to god's head until he removes the irregularities.

(I personally think tweak/raw-modding, is much more dwarven than reveal)

*God, I'm sorry about that, but It's the most accurate metaphor I could find*

"The zombies are at the gates! Everyone grab your *cotton sock*! OH SHIT. CARP. PULL THE DAMN LEVER!!!!!!

Congratulations, you have struck Uranium! Praise the drillers!
Toady One, Great Leader, has altered the price of goods.
A diplomat from Greenpeace has arrived.

Thats what popped into my head when i read that. ;D

Also, a real-life mountainhome would be bitching. Unfortunately, physics would get in our way. >:(
