I go to a private school, which is supposed to have higher standards than public schools.  Everyone but me is an idiot.  There was a huge whole-school argument over whether or not deoxygenated blood was blue.  It was me and two teachers against the entire school.  Kids were citing parents with medical degrees who told them it was blue.  Bad times.

What I hate is how, basically, most public schools are going more athletics and less academics. It is bad for the intelligent people(me, and some more), while all the idiots(most people who play football/other sports, not saying everyone is an idiot that plays a sport, but here, mostly everyone is).

I thought the same.

I don't know if this means that standards are declining, (atleast in my school's district they are (damn militant super intendent)) but as far as things go... I mean come on! That's Dallas and people, all kinds of people fight, I mean sure they can get hurt very badly but hey! As long as no one dies it's not too much of a big deal.

But deoxegenated blood is blue...

Actually, its red.  Just a different shade.

Nice picture, though. I did imagine that oxygenated blood looked more orange; now I don't have to worry about severing my left arm in order to find out!

What's the problem? It should definitely be there, I just checked it myself.

IIRC, deoxygenated blood is darker red; oxygenated blood is "almost orange" (this was a biology lesson, years ago. Funny, the things you remember... mostly from science lessons...). Not as in nectarine, but less deep "vermillion" than deoxygenated blood (because it is carrying oxygen, duh). The part about why oxygenated blood is more brightly-coloured than deoxygenated blood was never explained to us, only that bodies that expired due to asphyxiation in water turned out blue. I think that I attributed some sort of magical swelling/separation of haemoglobin molecules-causes pigment shift-theory to it in my mind, at the time.
