Actually guys, out of 6 players, we have 5 playing Striker roles, and only 1 Controller, and there are no Defenders or Leaders at all. As the party stands, combats will probably be lethal to a player or two per encounter, since there are no healing or protective roles, and the party will thus be limited to using guerrilla tactics and hit-and-runs. It could work, but I still don't see you guys being able to hold your own in melee very well, and save for the Dwarven Infernal Warlock Twins (I love how you both picked the exact same character type :P) you wont have much of a way to avoid enemy melee, lacking in ranged damage and Defenders to hold the front line.

I'm willing to run it this way, but it will take careful tactical decisions and teamwork. Still, to avoid frustrating you all in combat scenarios, if a few players would be willing to branch out into Defender or Leader roles, it'd help round out the party. Also, there are a wide variety of Races to choose from,  some more uncommon than you'll generally find in 4e campaigns, so feel free to try one out. If you end up not liking your character, we can always make you a new one.

Since I tend to do a lot of non-combat challenges as well, the party may want to consider investing in some varied skills (acrobats, trackers, healers, scholars, diplomats, etc.

On that note, Yanlin, maybe you'd consider playing a Swordmage? You'd have the martial capabilities and armor of a fighter, plus the elemental damage and utility of a Wizard, and it's not a watered down cross-class as in earlier editions.
I cant play Friday.

Though Cerej's is on Friday, there's no day set for the long-term campaign. What days are good for you?

Solifuge, after seeing yet another striker come out of the woodwork (they are just so darn interesting!) I think I'd be up for a change.

So, new character.
Character Info: Hobgoblin Warlord (Male)
Character Name: Ushraak
Character Concept: Forth hobgoblin born in a disgraced family, there is very little for him at home.  He adventures abroad in hopes of fame and nobility.
Heroic Background: On an expedition with his family, his father sickened shortly before a band of mercenaries attacked.  Rallying the guards, (insert name) organized the defense, and under his leadership the attackers were cut down.

Skill wise I'll be picking Diplomacy, Intimidate, Athletics, and History.  So we've got a party face.  What method are we using for ability scores?  I'd like to start fiddling around to find an array that fits.

Oooh, I like the character Cerej! As far as Goblin names, lets see... Hzraak, Gthull, Krysk, Tnella, Maruush, Julux, etc.

Think double vowels, harsh and guttural sounds, and glottal stops (k, x, ll, z, etc.)

I like the feel of those.  Good, solid names.  They don't exactly roll off the tongue, but I like how they feel and how they dominate a sentence.

Right.  My character's name is Ushraak.  He left behind his family name when he left his homeland.  He felt it would help him escape his family's enemies and forge himself into a legend.

Hmm. Well if we have so many strikers... We better get a healer or two.

Also, what about multiclassing? As a rogue, I can already operate all magical items. (I could in NWN 2, which is 3.5e. Does it still work in 4e?) Wouldn't hurt to multiclass to some class that casts a healing spell or two. Especially since I'm wearing chainmail which grants no penalty on magic. (Again, 3.5e. Does it still work in 4e?)

I'd also like to shake off my int and wisdom penalties. They make me feel stupid.

Since I'm already a caster, I could multiclass into healing. Wait, aren't druids supposed to be healers to begin with?

In 4e, anyone with the Leader type have access to support and recovery powers... even Warlords can "heal" people by encouraging their allies and inspiring them.... think Drill Sergent. Everyone can recover HP to some degree too (Second Wind is a power everyone gets), they just aren't necessarily specialists. Some Barbarians, for instance, can stay alive and fighting even after they are at 0 HP, until they reach -1/2 of their HP, and can recover small amounts of HP through certain Rages.

Katsuun, Druids are Controllers, subbing in Leader or Striker powers, which means you affect large groups with nature magic (ex. lightning and fire), and shape movement on the battlefield (ex. entangling roots). Also, Shingo, your Avenger is a very different brand of striker, and uses a lot of radiant damage instead of regular weapon stuff. Besides, the Zealous Assassin is a rather fun archetype.

Honestly, I think we're good now that one or two folks have branched out. If anyone else wants to, though, feel free to try something new that seems interesting. Also, if anyone wants a full racial listing to see if you're happy with racial powers and stat bonuses, etc. I can have that up later today, though I'm headed out now.

Mhmm, and first post is changed accordingly. So far, the party is looking pretty good all in all:

* FobosIC - Human Cleric (Divine Leader)
* Katsuun - Kobold Druid (Primal Controller)
* Org - Dwarven Warlock (Arcane Striker)
* Shingo - Dragonborn Avenger (Divine Striker)
* Cerej - Hobgoblin Warlord (Martial Leader)
* Yanlin - Unselected
* (2 seats remain for new players)

If you like Front-Line Fighter types, Yanlin, the party would be complete with a Defender. If you're interested, here are some good examples:

Fighter: Martial Defender, whose mastery of weapons gives them a great variety of physical exploits and weapon-based abilities.
Swordmage: Arcane Defender, who uses their weapon training, and the ability to channel spells through their weapon, to engage enemies.
Paladin: Divine Defender, who represent the will of their chosen god in the world, calling on divine power to punish enemies, and defend allies.
Warden: Primal Defender, utilizing the power of mountains and forests to become an impenetrable bastion of badassery

Full Race List with blurbs and associated powers/abilities is forthcoming.
