Which means alunite, and a couple other great metal ores that come along with it.

inaluct, please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Also it's finished uploading: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=910

I have no idea where it is, so use the finder searching for bottomless pit, chasm, magma pipe, and river. That should find it.

I mean, it's pretty unique, right?

DUDE.

River -> 100 Waterwheels -> Hole.

That's what they're there for.

Wiping out stone layers because you don't like them, freaking out and dumping fortresses because your planned area is made unsymmetrical by a hidden feature, and deleting saves of great locations.

And not doing what Idiom just said.

10,000 units of mechanical power. What more could you ever want?

If it really bugs you so much you could just floor in a level of the chasm and wall up a mold to allow you to slowly make an obsidian outgrowth which won't impact your symmetry.

It has magma.

Also inaluct, Saying there's a right or wrong way to play it is playing the game wrong.

I think this game qualifies as being on the edge of sandboxlyness. (Mind you it's also on the edge of godliness [Re-ordering the dwarf skill list would tip it over]) Also, I take out Alunite because it is pointless and doesn't even hinder my process. ALL it changes is the color of my walls, and crafts. As for the point you may note that Obsidian is worth more so I'm making a profit from not having any alunite, I get enough obsidian to supply my crafting anyways, and I just dump/forbid all my alunite. (And microcline and other useless stones)

As for the wiping of saves I do, I'm still rather new to playing this, so a pit in the middle of my fortress isn't good for me. I saw the 20 or so creatures, and my mind went to "I'm screwed, lets give up" (Before I gave up I was already attacked by a few giant bats) not; "Lets build a giant wall blocking it, and then later use it to dig in and make homes!"

As for symmetry, I'm a bit OCD about video games, and even-more-so symmetry.

So, if you don't like the way I play, don't bother wasting your time telling me, because I play to have fun, not to do everything perfectly correctly.

Don't like alunite, huh?  Or those other stones?  Me neither, until this; magma safe rocks mod

That makes a lot of previously annoying rocks to be magma safe by giving realistic temperature values.

Isn't that a good thing? I like having another color to play around with. Grey and darker grey gets kinda boring after awhile.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

I'm conformist, purist OCD.

I LIKE EVERYTHING TO BE EXACTLY, THE FRICKING, SAME.

(You should see me play with dominoes. Which I don't do often, as I have yet to find blank-white/black glass dominoes)

 Dammit guys...

Dwarf Fortress is a sandbox. There is right or wrong ways to do it. There are some methods that are more fun to some people and less fun to others. This guy can play however he wants.

Well, I was trying to be helpful.  So don't go yellin' at me.  He said he thought the stone was useless, so I showed him something that made it useful.
