I've become addicted to this game now... Oh well, I need something to eat my spare time anyways. I've read a few help files but they do not help much. I seem to die REALLY fast, and some monsters can hit AC -3 with no problems.

Anyways any general hints/help can some of you vets can give me.

Here's one that you may not know. If you read a scroll of 12 gates while confused, you'll get lots of GOLD!

dont go through that portal until youre at least a master something (lv 10)...  If you go through, immediately go back.  The monsters there are considerably stronger.  

The same goes for the cave system (10, 20, 30 meters).  While its a bit softer than the sea, its nothing to go into early.

Reading a scroll of bless while confused will bless 60% (or so) of your scrolls, potions, etc. but not equipment.  So, get a pot of booze, 2 scrolls of bless and lots of potions and scrolls (esp ID since blessed ID does all equipment).

I always make a sage then go to alchemist then conjuror and finally viking for the rest of the game.  It seems like a solid strategy.

About that reading a scroll of 12 gates while confused... It does make about 2K worth of gold appear, but also summons a weir that will kill any character in a few hits.

My problem is getting any character passed level 4. This game is harder at low levels than CRAWL ever was.

I dont know about that...  I always though crawl was really harsh...  Those wiers arnt very powerful actually, but they do have an annoying attack that forces you to count your gold, which can take forever for a rich character!  Borgon Viles are POWEFUL...  Hel dragons and powerful...  Wiers you'll be killing at about 10th level...

Try playing a viking.  Make sure to zap those stalwarts or whatever those things are called that make illusions.

Well, thanks to all the bones files, I had a black smith up to level 15. I was able to turn platemail armour into a mithril armour and a runesword to boot. I switched to a sage to try out the scroll writing skill, but I couldn't find a stylist anywhere, even in the bazaar!

Eventually I got turned into a werewolf. I was laughing my ass off as my uncontrolled character ran around killing anything and eating them. Filled the food bar nicely. But afterwards, I noticed my inventory was empty and met my demise when I blundered into a KNOWN quicksand trap without a grapple.    :roll:

I'm trying a sage now...

Yeah, half the reason for starting out as a sage is not having to find an elusive stylus...  You could always wish for one.

Thanks, to an early scroll of transport and lot of bones files. (mithril mail!) I have a scribe/alchemist/conjurer at level 22. The write skill is almost cheating... except I encountered monsters that strip half of my 200+ hp in one round. Thank god for rebounding bolts of fire.

Some monsters can do well in excess of 1000 hp of damage!  Just get your AC down to about -600 and then get 10K+ HP and you'll be fine.

ARRRRGH!!!   :mad:  What the hell happened to the bazaar?

I go farm monsters and sell their loot for gold a few thousand turn. When I return to the bazaar the wands are completely GONE as are the weapons, armour, tools, food. So no wand of wishing, green stone, cube, red bag, or food items.

Does the bazaar change every do often? Or should I suicide and hope for a ghost file?

Probably the bazaar dissapeared because of some memory issue...  The game will also crash if you try to look at your map in asgaurd.    :eek:   Just try to win without any of that!

Well, according to some hint guides I read, I can't win this current game. So I bought every enchantment scroll and blessed them. Now I have a 3rd level scribe with a +47 katanna and +51 gorget.

Yeah, one time I got lucky and found a shop filled with scrolls.... it was pretty big too I had trouble fitting all the scrolls in my pack, Lucky I read a scroll of wonder a few minutes before I went in... I became a magician. I had recall set up and got a great deal. I turned 90% of them scrolls into blessing heh and powered up a helmet... which got all the way up to 50 and the owner which was a different charecter later on got turned to stone...  8(    I read more wonder scrolls with this mage guy and turned into a shadow.... or something...  8(   I HATE THIS GAME!!! means---> I need a two minute break... 8D
