you could always abandon and reclaim, though that might be overkill, though you do have a point,.... I wish I had saved and zipped the world file BEFORE I embarked, as now that im a good ways in, im wihsing for a much smaller location,

Export a picture, get the seed details from the text file it sticks in your root DF directory, and regen the world, refind the embarked spot, and then upload that.

Im not sure why but I always tend to make IMMENSE maps, a lot of my starting maps are often8x8 or even 10x10.. is that odd?

Generally, you end up with a framerate of about 3-8, as opposed to the more comfortable double digits.
