Demons may be tougher than goblins, but nothing can survive a collapsing ceiling. Not even the horrors from the deep.

So has anyone re-genned that world? Any luck with it?

UPDATE:

So the king came by a little while ago. I was worried that he might get ambushed on his way to the fort, but no such ambush came.

Somehow though, he still got injured. I have no idea how it happened, but he lost his entire left hand. Like, I mean, he lost his hand, wrist, thumb, and 1st-4th fingers. Straight to "lopped off" status.

Now all he does is rest in some peasant room that he walked to first =/

King is a historical figure, so he was likely injured during worldgen, not on your map. At least you don't need to worry about him mandating things now.

I tried it, it didn't work, but i suspect that's either a version or transcribing problem.

Only in Dwarf Fortress would you try to catch a mermaid to butcher her and make trophies out of her bones

I just copied and pasted, so I'm sure it's not a transcribing problem. Are you running 40d9 + have the orc mod? If not, I don't really expect it to work.

EDIT: Side-question: Am I right in thinking that the max armor items a dwarf can  wear are...
Helm
Chainmail
Platemail
Gauntlets
Greaves
Low Boot
High Boot
Shield

?

Dwarves won't wear low boots and high boots, only one or the other. They apparently have the same protection, but I do high boots because I imagine they protect more.

The max amount a dwarf can wear is this:

Cap
Helm
Leather Armor
Chainmail
Platemail
Gauntlets
Greaves
High Boot
Shield

Although getting a dwarf to wear all that is pretty sketchy, especially the three layers of armor.
