DFFD? World gen? Share the love!    :-*

DFFD? what?

Anyway yeah I'm totally willing to share but I'm not sure how to get the seed and stuff from my already-started file.

On another note, the fort's kicking ass, with the small downside being that I haven't found the magma or adamantium yet =/

Worse yet, I forgot their general location from the embark screen so I'm gonna have to search the whole map D:

Savescum, abandon, and reclaim. Jot down the location, and revert the savescum.

Savescum, abandon, and reclaim. Jot down the location, and revert the savescum.

Reclaim shows the embark tiles as the statue symbol, so the locations would still be obscured.

He could still take a screenshot and show us the area where it is; then we can go in and find it.

Found them both on my own, actually. I thought I had the general idea of where they were to I just sort of stabbed around a bit and found the adamantium (upper left corner) and the magma actually had a visible obsidian cap from the surface, I just didn't notice it due to the mountain-y terrain.

Anyway I don't wanna just zip up my fort itself-- there's a way I can find the exact seed and setting for a game I've already saved, isn't there? That'd be better.

ESC, then export local map image. It should be around that file that pops out.

Thanks, zchris. I'd thought that was for just images, huh.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Is that all you guys need? As far as other mods go, I have the orc mod as well as 10x modded trade capacity on all pack animals and wagons. I'm sure the orcs have some affect on worldgen, dunno about the capacity thing though.

In other news, I just painstakingly carved out all the adamantium in the area (all of it that's not keeping the demons from tearing my fort apart, I mean), and it looks like there's 710 total. How good is that, on average?

I'll take that as a positive response.

Too bad breaching HFS has absolutely demolished my FPS. I need to either figure out a way to kill the demons (hah!) or live with this superlag =/

My best so far has been 210 units including the HFS cage. a way to kill the demons easily is to temporarily give your dwarves [SPEED:1] and send them in to attack at the speed of light. Also, this can help combat low FPS.

Hmm... I think I'll live with the low FPS for a while, and try to kill them in some at least partially fair way. I was thinking I'd just cause a massive cave-in, but as far as I can tell there's no actual demons at the moment. They only showed up on the few savescums I had where I DIDN'T wall the place off in time. So I'm assuming they don't even exist until there's a path from the pit to my fort, or something like that?

Anyway, those 210 units you found, were they EVERYthing? Because this was a multiple z-level deal here, and I had to strip mine to find it all.

Oh, the demons exist. They're just hiding. Waiting. Watching. Like ambushing goblins, except when the demons spring from ambush, your fortress typically goes ablaze.

Also, the thread title reminded me of one of the nursery hymns I use to sing in Sunday School. "Armok loves the little children, all the children in the world."  or something like that.

Haha, nice. So does this mean that a massive collapse will solve my demon problems?
