Armok is smiling upon my current fort. (spoilers)
« on: March 15, 2009, 08:09:58 pm »

Check this out, my embark location has magma, flux, and adamanitne, and my first three fey moods have netted me a legendary armorsmith, mason, and stone crafter.

Before the next caravan I'm going to be rich as hell, and later on my soldiers are going to be outfitted adamantine... honestly this is the best start I've ever had.

Summary: I'M EXCITED AS FUCK GUYS

Exploit the adamantine as much as possible.

Nothing bad can possibly come of that.

In all seriousness, congradulations on your stroke of luck.

Watch out for HFS!

And also stone craft all matel ores, they save you alot of resources and are worth just as much.

you know how adamantine works, right?  When you mine it horizontally, nothing happens.  But as you mine out layers up or down, the game procedurally generates more adamantine squares based on layer composition.  So mining straight down to the bottom, then mining out each layer on the way back up is the optimal strategy.

I don't think they are, last time I saw one, it led to a cliff that is above another HFS, that scary room tells you that you are screwed, and bad things will be appearing soon. Besides, would the anguish of many humanoids at the Dawn of time trying to seal it away, tell you something?

Nope, not at all. They just ran out of food and went into a tantrum spiral, so the dwarf fortress controller locked them in a room.
