The US government is concerned about its safety from possible hostile nations that it has angered in the past, such as Russia, China and other middle eastern countries. Nuclear weapons are too destructive and dangerous in wars to both sides and the US wants to be able to recolonize the lands that are left vaccant from bombing. Wars are expensive in terms of bombs and nuclear weapons deform the terrain and make it unable to be colonized for multiple years because of the radiation. American scientists begin looking for a more efficent way of ending wars.

Healthcare researchers celibrate as a cure is found for the most spreadable and common disease in the world: the common cold. It is found that a fault is in each structure of the virus and this fault is what allows it to constantly change its form and is therefore unable to be vaccinated against. They develop a vaccine that destroys the virus via the 'cold fault' and the world rejoices. Copies of the vaccine are spread to all major nations on the globe so to spread the cure easier.

Scientists that are working on the vaccine discover that the 'cold fault' can be made in other diseases and produce the same results: an unvaccineable disease. More research is underway and US weapons specialists take special interest and take a dose for themselves secretly.

As citizens around the globe celebrate the festive season, the scientists are also celebrating. They have designed a working prototype of a brand new weapon that should end all wars. It is codenamed: The Bio-Terminator. It is simple in nature yet extremely effective: Using the cold fault in combination with a skin absorbed virus, they have come up with the ultimate biological weapon. A warhead filled with dispersers full of the solution and encased in a state-of-the-art missile system that is invisible to almost all anti-air systems is launched from silos to a designated target. The warhead detonates at a optimal altitude so that the solution is spread over an area in a gas form, which is carried by air currents as it falls so to maximize the impact zone. The altitude of detonation can be set at different heights so to accomidate different sized cities and not to effect any nearby zones. The virus then decends in gas form to infect the target where it then suffers increasing symptoms before suffering fatal brain damage and causing death. Due to the 'cold fault', a cure is impossible to create as the target will think that it is one type of disease.
The weapon developers are extremely pleased and prepare to present their product to the government in the new year.

The US government relizes the major error they have made when they relize what the bio-terminators are possible of. An unofficial order is made to destroy all the bio-terminators and all research that lead to its creation so that it may never be used against themselves.
All but 30 bio-terminators are destroyed and all records dissapear. All knowledge of the bombs officially dont exist.

Chinese terrorists launch a tatical ballistic missile that they have stolen form the chinesse government and claim that their action was that of the chinese government. The missile is not detected in time and it hits the border of the USA. 2 million people die in total and the citizens cry for justice. China screams that it was not responsible but they aren't believed by the US.
3 weeks later, the political situation has rapidly decayed and war is declared on china by the US.

The war is getting out of hand as china calls on past favors and makes an alliance with the russians against the US, using past events to their advantage. The US calls on its allies but relizes that the cost will be too great on its citizens. In desperation, the president looks for answers and learns of the bio-terminators. In a spur of the moment decision, he declares a one time use of the bombs and orders that 3 long range stealth bombers armed with 2 bio-terminators each fly into china and drop the bombs on strategic targets.
The bombs are effective as thought and millions die from the disease. China drops out of the war shortly after from sheer lack of resources.
17th of March, 2009
Russia is terrified that these new weapons will be used on them next and decide to strike first. It launches all of its nuclear missiles at the US and its nearby allies in a desperate attempt to win the war. The US retaliates with drastic measures, deciding to launch most of the remaining bio-terminators at russia and any other countries against them and their allies. Unknown to them, chinese and russian spies have discovered the location of 4 bio-terminators and have sabotaged them to detonate early.
Their plan works perfectly as the missiles detonate early and their effect is felt across half of the US. Millions of US citizens die and as the anti-air defences fire repeatedly at the massed nuclear missiles that are approaching, a few slip through the cracks in the defence and a thin scattering of nuclear bombs hit the US and its allies at the same time that the other missiles detonate on other countries.
The death toll is uncountable.

It is discovered that half of the US armed forces have survived the onslaught and as they emerge from their underground bunkers to survey the remains of their country, they find that not many have survived. The disease has diluted from being in the air for too long and the only remains are in the dead citizens. Search parties are sent to check for survivors.

Scraping sounds, a screech and crackling, then a burst of static, then silence.
"What the hell was that?! Sound off!"
"1, bored but alive."
"2, what happened sir?"
"3, what was that?"
"4, still looking."
"6, heading into the next street."
"Wait, wheres 5? Someone check for 5. Santiago, report!"
"He must have tripped and hit his helmet or something."
"Fan out and look for him. Watch where you walk."

A chorus of No sirs until...
"Sir, I haven't found him but I got something strange here."
"What is it?"
"Some kind of plant life on the ground. Looks like creepers but the leaves are transparent and fuzzy. Its all over the place!"
"Can you identify it?"
"... I haven't seen anything like this before sir. The air is clean of contaminants, but the geiger counter goes nuts right next to this stuff. It seems that it has absorbed radionuclids and keeps absorbing any nearby. I keep getting the odd click in the air by the counter but its really minor stuff. Amazing..."
"Leave it alone private and keep looking for Santiago."

"Sir, I have movement! It appears to be a civilian!"
"What are they doing? Can you see their state of health?"
"They aren't looking too good, they keep swaying and knocking into stuff while moving real slow. Im checking him out, cover me Cole."
"Sir? Sir are you ok? Si-"
A scream echoes out over the radio and gunshots are head over Cole roaring in shock. Silence reigns again.
"He bit me! The bastard bit me! Thank god Cole shot him, he almos- Look out, hes getting back up!"
More gunshots then a sigh of relief and a groan.
"Nice one Cole, you popped his head like a baloon. Man, my hand..."
"Im taking 1 back to the chopper, he needs a medic, keep going on without us sarge."
"Confirmed. One more freakout like that and we're out of here."

"4 here, do you see that Johnson?"
"Yeah, a whole group of them."
"Who private? More survivors?"
"Yeah, and just like the last one. Stumbling around, and OH S***! They noticed us! RUN!"
"How many are there private? Numbers man! We need numbers!"
"15 sir! *pant* At least! And *pant* they are fast f****** too! Haul a** Johnson!"
"Everyone fall back to the copper! We're out of here!"
