a few bugs...
« on: March 14, 2009, 12:33:29 pm »

i am currently playing v0.28.181.40d (the latest version) and i have come across two bugs (or just simple incompetence on my part). First I cannot get my dwarfs to move artifacts to and from the trade dept, they do not even appear on the move list (or i cannot see them). Also these artifacts are ignored y my military when i want them to use them weapons (for example i have an artifact mace that is ignored my my recruits when i set them to use a mace).
Secondly, when i try to set zones. All i get is the meeting area bound with the garbage dump. i cannot disable one or the other, nor can i activate other zones.

thanks for all the help

You can not trade artifacts at the trade depot, nor can you equip artifact weapons on anyone other than legendary military dwarves.

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

What does "meeting area bound with the garbage dump" mean?  They're both selected?  That's not a problem, just press the letter next to them to toggle it off.

I think the 'Meeting Area bound to a Garbage Dump' is just referring to the numbers next to each.  When defining an activity zone it lists the number of tiles usable in the zone for each purpose.  Dark grey with 0, and light grey with any number.  If you then press the corresponding letter for an activity that is light grey it will turn white indicating that the zone is enabled for that use.

When i press i and then select the area for the activity zone; both Meeting area option and Dump option are selected automatically. i cannot deselect either option or select new option...

You use the same protocol to designate zones that you do for digging.  So: ['i'] -> enter (on one corner of the wanted zone) -> size the zone -> enter (on the opposite corner of the wanted zone).  Once the zone is set, then you can select which type(s) to make it.
