Possible bugs..not found on search
« on: March 14, 2009, 11:21:40 am »

So having lost my last fort due to idiot dwarf marks men leaving the fort to charge into glorious death with a siege...I started yet another fort.

I use vanilla 40d no editing, with the latest Mayday set.

So the Dwarven caravan came and I bought 8 empty cages. The cages were then moved to my empty stockpile, but show as having occupants. (3 Cs, a D and 4 Hs).  I tried building the cages to release the occupants, but the cage shows up empty.  After removing the cage, it again is placed in the empty stockpile, but when I try to use the cage in a trap, it gives me the no empty cage message.  I'm stuck with 8 full yet empty cages.  Any ideas?

The other weird thing with this fort, during the winter I dug out some ice, just to see if I could get ice blocks.  Instead I got water blocks.  I built a short wall with them and the are rough water block walls.  A couple of years later and they are still standing.

Looking at the Mayday site, I must have version 15, not 16 because I do not have the full stone mod his latest version contains.

I suspect that the cages have dead animals in them. This happens when caravans have to travel through cold areas to reach your fortress; the animals don't survive the trip. You should be able to deal with them via the butcher.

As for the water walls, this is known. Ice is, after all, just frozen water; it does look weird, but the only real bug is that the walls are immune to magma and the like.

If ice is treated like stone... and a dwarf goes moody...
Does this mean that you could have, like:

Orglesh the Iron Spike, a Water Spear. Engraved on the image in water is a dwarf. The dwarf is drowning.

invention is every dwarf's middle name
that means that somewhere out there theres a dwarf named Urist Invention Mcinvention.

So dead bodies...Why are they on the empty cage stockpile?

Oh well, thanks! ;D

Ice is not eligible for crafting, last I checked, so no, you couldn't, disregarding the ineligibility for stone to be used to make spears anyway.

I thought strange moods could disregard that sort of guideline, seeing as I've encountered Pig Iron Gauntlets?

Ice is especially weird though, being a hardcoded material.
