Standby option for levers
« on: March 11, 2009, 07:49:32 pm »

Here is a very simple suggestion that would save, or waste, a lot of dwarven lives.

Add a Manned flag to all levers, similar to the Dwarf-powered pumps. Once toggled, there will be a permanent "job" created available to all free dwarves that make the dwarf just stand near the lever, ready to pull.

So basicaly, you could switch a lever to Manned and be sure that someone will indeed be there when you decide its time to pull it. Maybe an option to limit the dwarves that can use the building, exactly like workshops, could be useful too.

Thats it  ;D

Simple suggestion but I think it would be very useful.

Good idea, but just one thing; you can already restrict who pulls a lever to certain dwarves ('P')

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

I know, but I'm specifically referring to the thing already in the game.  Everything else is fine.

Also allow for rooms to be designated from levers, and have them dwarfed in thier entirety by a player specified amount of dwarfs. Even without that, I fully support this idea.

This combined with workshop options sounds pretty righteous.

Otherwise, supported!

I think that proposal is so that if you have twelve levers that need to be pulled for your mighty deathtrap to go off correctly, then you could say, "keep a minimum of four dwarves in this room at all times ready to pull levers".
