I'm on something of an LoTR kick recently... if Org/Inaluct wouldn't mind, I'd elect to run this game. I've also adapted the rules somewhat in keeping with the LoTR theme, while also making it fairly balanced:
LoTR Mafia, The Fellowship of the Ring
Chapter 1: At the Sign of the Prancing Pony:
Rules:
Each Day: Players may talk, and decide on an individual to put to the Gallows.
Each Night: The thread is locked. The Dark Riders isolate and kill one player. Night Roles PM their actions to the GM.
PMs can be sent freely from player to player, but all must be copied to the GM.
Free Peoples of Middle Earth:
Win: When all the Forces of Mordor are defeated.
Lose: If Frodo is killed, or if the Forces of Mordor outnumber the Free Peoples.
Frodo Baggins: (Hobbit, Unique)
The bearer of the One Ring, he can use it to protect himself from harm, or disguise himself when investigated (making himself appear to be whatever he chooses). Each time he uses it after the first, he has a 50% chance of being revealed to the Nazgul. He knows Sam.
Samwise "Sam" Gamgee: (Hobbit, Unique)
A noble soul, he can protect any one player from death each night. He knows Frodo.
Peregrin "Pippin" Took: (Hobbit, Unique)
A nosy troublemaker, he can interfere with any player's power each night, preventing it from working. He knows Merry.
Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck: (Hobbit, Unique) The most perceptive of the hobbits, he knows the identity of anyone targeting a Hobbit with an ability, but not their role. He knows Pippin.
"Strider": (Man, Unique)
A Ranger of the North, he is an experienced tracker. He can investigate one player every Night, and reveal whether they are a Man, a Hobbit, or a Nazgul.
Patron: (Man/Hobbit)
An infrequent guest at the Prancing Pony.
Regular: (Man/Hobbit)
A regular at the Prancing Pony, he and the Innkeeper know each other.
Drunkard: (Man/Hobbit)
A regular patron, he is so often drunk that he believes himself to be someone else entirely (selected at random), and may even believe that he has a Power (which will never seem to work). His drunkeness is unknown, even to himself. He doesn't know the Innkeeper, but the Innkeeper knows him.
Forces of Mordor:
Win: If Frodo is killed, or if the Forces of Mordor outnumber the Free Peoples.
Lose: When all the Forces of Mordor are defeated.
Dark Rider: (Nazgul)
Rumors are told of Dark Riders, unknown in number, stalking the streets of Bree at night. They seek the bearer of the One Ring, and each night will isolate and kill one patron of the Inn. During the day, they send a man into the Inn, who has been swayed by the will of Sauron, and who will vote for and represent them. They know only each other.
Agent of Sauron: (Man, Unique)
This townsperson is actually an informant for the Forces of Mordor. During each Night, he may observe one player and determine if they believe themselves to be a Man, Hobbit, or Nazgul.
Neutral Parties:
Barliman Butterbur: (Man, Unique) The Innkeeper of the Prancing Pony. Although he is a good-natured sort, his foremost concern is to keep his Inn intact. He knows all the Regulars and Drunks who frequent his Inn, as well as Strider, but doesn't know their identities.
Win: Whether the forces of Mordor, or the Free Peoples are victorious.
Lose: If he dies.
