« on: March 09, 2009, 01:37:51 pm »

Because sooner or later all of us get a bit bored and wonder "Why not try soemthing NEW"

What do you do when you want to just have some silly fun and cheat a bit?  Recently ive been playing with the SPEED:1 cheat which makes my dwarfs work and move at insiane quickness.

I'd bet they stopped eating and drinking but still got hungry and thirsty.

Negative. [NO_SLEEP][NO_EAT][NO_DRINK] dwarves will stay alive until they reach max age. They do not get hungry or thirsty, apart from complaining about a lack of alcohol intake.

Dwarven atom smasher, destroying a trade port whilst trading, "rehabilitating" my dwarves' alcohol dependence by removing the tag, making an in-accessible fort then making a small walled section of forest to live(I had a fuckton of goblins just chillin' out maxin relaxin all cool until I finished my magma pump.. shame I didn't know how to upload videos, that was truely my best fort), adding no_fear and blind tags to stop them from running out and looting mid-battle and to stop my champions from retreating to "rest", umm..

Yeah, that's all..

Removing carp, and all other "large" fish, by adding immolate and heatdam tags :)
Hilarity ensued when a caravan showed up with carp meat, I lost my legendary siege operator in the Carp Fires though...

Actually now that I think of it, I always wanted to try the "REVEAL STONE" cheat, but I hear you can no longer make it work

I feel so inadequate, I've never done something as outright "cheaty" as some of the stuff in this thread :-[

My favorite "non-vanilla" thing to do is to use dtil to start fires if I don't have a magma pipe.  Start beautiful, beautiful fires.  Purifying fires, that cleanse the world of (all the piles of (narrow camel leather thongs)).  And Elves.  I swear, if the Elves bring me nothing but cloth one more time, I'm torching their asses, using dwarf companion to resurrect them, and then torching them AGAIN.

I've thought about using DC to make the hammerer work as a military man, but frankly, I'm scared of what that program could do.  Aside from that, the most I've ever used is the occasional Tweak.

when i say it didn't work, i mean that it just didn't work. my dwarves still needed to eat and drink, and they ate and drank.
Were the tags in all-caps?

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

culling herds of wild critters using military and dumping the corpses in a designated dumping zone right over a refuse pile nearby a butchers'.

If refuse collection from outside is turned on, dwarves will retrieve the corpses.
As opposed to the normal autobutcher range of ... 16 tiles or so?
You have to reclaim the dumped bodies though.

Also works on game dropped by an interrupted hunter. :)

Dumping stone and such on quantum garbage piles is also a favorite, but I try to over exploit it.

Add IS_SPIKE to all trap components. Amusing to have a serrated disk activate upon turning a lever. Unfortunate there is no tag for weapons, because I would totally have an activateable whip trap.
